Ric Flair Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 What mode of transport is everyone going on up to Preston? I'm still undecided whether to brave it on Fox Travel with the hillmans or go up on the train for a sweet 40 ****in notes. Someone convince me what's the better option, bearing in mind I like to get their early to get a fair few pints down me.

Get the first train there mate - forget the fox travel you are then your own boss!
Anish Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 I'm going Fox Travel, so that'll probably put you off
Ric Flair Posted 26 October 2005 Author Posted 26 October 2005 I'm going Fox Travel, so that'll probably put you off Naaah it wouldn't mate! I just want to be able to have a few drinks before the game but rumour has it the coaches can literally turn up only a few minutes before kick-off.

Yes sometimes that is the case, it depends on traffic though. I've used Fox Travel a fair bit and they aim to get you to the ground about 30-40 mins before kick off, but I've been in the position where we've got to the ground just in time for KO (Old Trafford a few seasons ago springs to mind).

Go on the train and get wasted on the way!
Anish Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 Go on the train and get wasted on the way! Yeh, but I'd rather pay £16 on Fox Travel than £39.50 by train, and if you go by train you also have to change at B'ham and at Crewe - thus making it a 4 hour journey each way
frenchy_lcfc Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 I was goin but i can't now!! But we were gonna go on Supporters club it costs 6 to 8 pounds it worth it but limited amount of space!!
Ric Flair Posted 26 October 2005 Author Posted 26 October 2005 Yeh, but I'd rather pay £16 on Fox Travel than £39.50 by train, and if you go by train you also have to change at B'ham and at Crewe - thus making it a 4 hour journey each way I know mate, it's stupid. I'm not sure what to do. Do you think there are still spaces on Fox Travel?
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 I know mate, it's stupid. I'm not sure what to do. Do you think there are still spaces on Fox Travel? Go via Manchester mate - cheeper and easier!
Guest Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Fox Travel arrived 2 hours before KO yesterday. Unfortunately the police wanted to take away valuable drinking time by not letting us out of the 'compound' for 15 minutes.

Stuliasz Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 I had the strangest dream last night that I was catching the train to this game (not even thought about going up to now), and got stuck at Liverpool station, as in I couldn't even get in or out of the station itself and there were no staff on telling me where to go and in the end I ended up talking to some West Ham fans
Teeno Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Yeh, but I'd rather pay £16 on Fox Travel than £39.50 by train, and if you go by train you also have to change at B'ham and at Crewe - thus making it a 4 hour journey each way Thing is though going on the train makes a good day out, I've enjoyed me away days a lot more this season than last since going regularly on the train. P.S Anyone wanna pay for me to go, Watford and Cardiff has drained me of all me money.

BartonFox Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Don't they sell ale in the ground at Deepdale? If the bus is in early get to the bar and have a few scoops there.
Guest Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Are you Fox Travelling it up to Preston?? Ooh no! I don't think Mr Lisa will be very keen on using Fox Travel for some time!
westmidsfox Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 I shall be travelling up by car and meeting my brother and mate en route at Keele services. We shall be visiting The Sumners pub about half a mile from the ground. Good food, beer and Sky footy. Marvellous.
Scow Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 I'm getting the supporters coach from Loughborough I think. It's nothing to do with the crapness of Fox Travel - Loughborough is simply closer to Mountsorrel than Leicester. I've taken the train a few times this season, and It's much better than Fox Travel in terms of freedom and planning. Only problem with trains is that they can be expensive, so the coach is the only option at times, unless you're stupidly rich.
Nationwider Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Taking the A66 across the Pennines from the North-East to the M6. It's a stunning drive, so I'm hoping for a nice sunny morning to enjoy the views. It will probably be the best part of the day, as everytime I've seen City of late: 1 - they've lost. 2 - they've played exceptionally clueless football.

For the good of the club you should be banned from going to matches Simon
