Nerdy fact of the day ... There's one regular major service that actually reverses twice.     The EMR Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich service reverses at Sheffield and Ely.

Used to reverse at Nuneaton when Leicester had a direct link to Coventry.

Yep, I used to go on that train quite a bit.

At Ely it's good because you get a great view of the cathedral, twice, although it adds about 10 min to the journey

I've launched a petition as part of my ongoing campaign to bring passenger rail services back to North West Leicestershire and the wider region.
I know the opportunities this rail line could unlock for our communities, businesses and visitors, but we need to show that strength of local support.
Please sign and share the petition today: https://www.amandahack.com/.../burton-leicester.../..

As part of my ongoing efforts to bring passenger rail services back to the historic Ivanhoe Line from Burton to Leicester, which would reconnect Coalville, Ashby de la Zouch & Swadlincote to the rail network, I have now launched a petition urging the Government to support the proposal and work closely with my Steering Group of local stakeholders to enable the reinstatement of passenger rail services to North West Leicestershire, South Derbyshire and surrounding areas.

The Steering Group currently includes seven local authorities, Campaign to Reopen the Ivanhoe Line (CRIL), Network Rail, The National Forest Company, key private sector partners and other local MPs.

Restoring passenger rail services connecting North West Leicestershire with Leicester city, South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and beyond would unlock major opportunities for growth across our area, while also delivering significant improvements to public transport and connectivity for local people.

You can add your name to the petition online, or by contacting my office, (or your MP’s office if you live outside of North West Leicestershire) to request a paper copy.

Together, we can help bring passenger rail back to our communities.
