Half Time

Okay so we’ve now completed half a season, two bad results against world class opponents have seen us finish the first half on 39 points. 10 clear of 5th place  and a very healthy goal difference.

A great first half by anyone’s standards. Thoughts on the first 19 games?

Nice post to put things in perspective. What's key now is how we can bounce back after two disappointing performances. I emphasize performances because they are two respectably lose-able games against the champions of England and Europe. Next two or three games I think is crucial.

Can the players keep their confidence, show resilience, bounce back, hold their nerve, be ready to fight?

If so we're in a great position to qualify for the Champions League. Heads up chaps!

We're halfway through the season and despite disappointing displays in games 18 and 19, what a brilliant season this has been so far.

Going into the season I was optimistic about our chances and wanted us to finish at least 7th if we couldn't break into the established big 6.  Here we are though, right up there with Man City.  Ok, the league has gone, but a second title in this age of Liverpool/Man City dominance was never likely.

Still, 19 games in, we are one point short of the magic 40 points.  We've got a 10 point cushion to 5th place. We don't have to play Liverpool again and we have a league cup semi final in which we are favourites to progress to a Wembley final.

Aside from watching a rejuvenated Jamie Vardy and the emergence of some special young talent, the most pleasing thing for me this season has been the consistent way in which we have been able to win the games that "we should win".

Make no mistake, this is shaping up to be another very special season and fans are being legitimately dream of more Champions League nights.

What a legacy Khun Vichai has left and what a team we have running our club.
