irishfoxkev Posted 26 May 2020 Posted 26 May 2020 He scored in my first match at Filbert St a 4 - 2 victory over Stoke Dec 2nd 1966.....Sadly I can’t recall it and have never been able to find footage on the web....One fact about this match is that our 4 goals were scored by different nationalities.....Dougan the Irishman ( Northern Irish to be exact) , Rodriguez the Welshman, Sinclair the Scotsman and Nish the Englishman...
enmac Posted 27 May 2020 Author Posted 27 May 2020 I've got an old football annual. Goal? It had Davies Gibson rather than Sin lair, although they were both brilliant players.
SON OF A FOX Posted 27 May 2020 Posted 27 May 2020 My Uncle tells me a story that an away fan once asked him why are they booing Dougan he says they're not the are saying "Doooooooggg!!!" But as a Caveat to that when we played a pre-season friendly against who I cant remember after we won the Premier League a "Leicester Fan" asked me why are they booing Fuchs? I just looked at him just couldn't answer.
davieG Posted 28 May 2020 Posted 28 May 2020 I have memory of us having corner in front of the North Stand, Doog was at the near post and this defender (can't remember the club or player) was right up his arse, wouldn't give him any room. At the last seconds he ran behind the goal leaving the defender behind to the rear post and scored We laughed and cheered. He was such an entertainer, always at odds with authority especially the FA was so down when he left.
Stoopid Posted 28 May 2020 Posted 28 May 2020 Absolute cult hero when I first went to Filbert St in the early 60s. Though must admit I too was taken in by the 'Doog' murmur = thinking it was boos. He gave rise to one of our best ever songs: 'I see the Doog, the Doog sees me We took him our of Division Three, He scored the goals that made him king Dougan for evermore. 'Now he has left us to start anew Over the Midlands to Molyneux, Still scoring goals that make him king - Dougan for evermore! ' Only my opinion, but I think it has the edge over songs about Cag's cock!
