cisono Posted 12 November 2005 Posted 12 November 2005 Directories - How annoying are they?!?!?! There are more and more people starting up directories and professional bodies in every conceivable area of human life. These people purport to provide a service, but really all they do is: a) annoy service providers by phoning them (usually speaking with an American accent) or repeatedly writing to them b) expecting the company/trader to pay for the listing (but without making this clear in the first place) c) Tricking people into subscribing to the directory or forcing professionals to become a member of their (newly set up) professional organisation d) Flog their directories onto the internet instead of proper content e) when you need to find someone/some company in a certain area, you find out that the directories are not really good enough... and membership of a body does not really give you as much of a guarantee as it should f) these people make money (mainly out of small businesses/sole traders) while really not producing anything
The People's Hero Posted 12 November 2005 Posted 12 November 2005 If that's the biggest of your worries then I truly do envy you.
john_lcfc Posted 12 November 2005 Posted 12 November 2005 we are always getting caled by feckers from india selling phones and the like bogoff
Hitesh Posted 14 November 2005 Posted 14 November 2005 we are always getting caled by feckers from india selling phones and the like bogoff Wouldnt call them feckers but on the subject of call centres in india.... *begins rant* I dont like the way everyone is moving their call centres to india and other Asian countries! I understand the logic because it cheaper labour and they might save a lot of money BUT....they cant speak English properly and you cant understand a thing they say! I dont mind them moving, but people who can understand your problem, and can communicate properly with you. I end up spending more time than i should be on the phone just trying to read out the place where i live! Even using the phonetics (sp?) they still dont have a fechin clue! *rant over*

Even using the phonetics (sp?) they still dont have a fechin clue! *rant over* Hmm how about call centres in Scotland? First Direct seem to use call centres based "somewhere North" and their customer services representatives sometimes speak with a rather strict (from my viewpoint) Scottish accent. Imagine this (however unlikely) scenario: You: "Please pay 50 pounds into account No. XXX" Scottish Cust Service woman "Ok, you have just paid 500 pounds into account No. YYY" Nooo!!! we are always getting caled by feckers from india selling phones and the like bogoff Haven't had that yet... Don't you get Irish or British companies trying to sell you phones? Strange
cisono Posted 15 November 2005 Author Posted 15 November 2005 I just say I already have a phone. I tell them that I already have two. Not only is that true, but it also seems to work
Katy Posted 15 November 2005 Posted 15 November 2005 I tell them that I already have two. Not only is that true, but it also seems to work Ingenius!
cisono Posted 15 November 2005 Author Posted 15 November 2005 Ingenius! Seriously, as they are ringing a business number, they assume you need two phones (a business line and a private line), hence the need to say I am already covered for both...
The People's Hero Posted 16 November 2005 Posted 16 November 2005 I just tell them to get a proper job. If that doesn't work I tell them to fu ck off. Then I put the phone down.

Rincewind Posted 16 November 2005 Posted 16 November 2005 Just say can you hold on a second, put your croaking singing frog CD on next to the phone then go down the pub.
