Colin Appleton played in the very first game I attended as a young City fan, away at Arsenal. Went down to London on the train with my Dad. Don't remember a great deal about the match other than it ended 4 - 4 and that I made a hell of a noise with my football rattle! Colin was an honest pro, gave everything for the team and was hard as nails. RIP.

Sadly the image I constantly have is of him at an empty Wembley being presented with the FA Cup before we played, that's how much we were fancied to win it.

Remember that very well, the Friday night before the Final.Talk about tempting Fate!

How did the powers that be at the club allow that to happen?

However Great respects to a real class solid professional, a real legend from one of the best City sides ever assembled.

Also paying respects to Colin`s brother Dave, an Oadby Town and senior league stalwart who also sadly left us 7 or 8 weeks ago...both a very sad loss to Leicestershire football.
