Elliott and Heath back in training

Micky Adams received a double injury boost today (Thursday) with the news that Matt Elliott and Matt Heath were both back in training.

Elliott has been out of action since a knee operation in July, while Heath (pictured) has missed City's last two games with a hamstring problem.

But the central defenders were both back on the Belvoir Drive training pitches today ahead of Saturday's Championship clash against Burnley at the Walkers Stadium.

Adams confirmed: "Matt Heath and Matt Elliott were both back on the training pitches today, which is good news."

But The City boss also revealed that Kevin Harper will miss the fixture with a groin strain.

He added: "Kevin Harper has got no chance of being fit for the Burnley game. That's disappointing for the lad."

Meanwhile, Kevin Pressman is expected to continue in goal in the absence of Ian Walker (knee).

Good news they're both back in training. Bad news about Harper. :(

What's the point of that comment Petrescu? Elliott is miles better than Heath, and Keown & Dabizas won't be playing every game will they.

I agree as far as i'm concerned Heath and Dabizas could fall off the side of the earth i would be happy with keown and Elliott as first choice centre backs with stearman waiting in the wings!

Keown and Elliott would be my first choice this season too!

Heath and Dabizas have been shite on too many occasions.

I doubt Keown and Elliott will be first choice, but at least with all 4 fit it will hopefully mean the pairing of Heath and Dabizas will be kept to a minimum!

Im glad to see Matty is back training , hopefully he can return for thee QPR game , I would profer Elliott playing than Dabizas

One thing Elliott will give us is more strength in the air where, despite their experience ,Keown and Dabizas have looked vulnerable at times

I don't think he will be back for quite a few weeks yet.

Do you love it how Elliot does the captains comment in the program even though he'll never get into the team, let alone be captain?

I perfer Dabizas, his recent performances have been very good, and alongside Keown,he looks solid, Elliott hasnt played first team in a long while, so I think he would find it hard to ajust, Heath is a bag of nerves for me, and does stupid things still like keep his arm up for offside when the guys run past him. He's bullied easily by strikers as those of you who went to Wolves this season may have seen with Kenny Miller.

I too would prefer Dabizas and Keown in defence. However, I would suggest putting Elliott up front instead of Dublin. Let's face it, Dublin cannot run, jump, or head the ball, and at least Elliott will win headers, hold the ball up, and he has a great shot on him. I know it has been years since MON played him up front, but I genuinely think he'll cause more of a handful for opposing defenders than Dublin/Connolly.

i agree, dublin has been shit all season. Les ferdinand is 100* the plyer dublin will ever be. Dublin don't seem bothered which is surprising because it is his home-town club. But elliot up-front that is not going to work. He no longer has the legs.

I think connoly at the front of a diamond, with scowcroft and wright up-front.

Heath doesnt look comfortable at the back, I would leave him out of the team for abit, maybe put him on the bench. As for Elliott I think he could do a decent job for us, probably better then Dabizas. I say wiat untill Elliott is 100% fit and then bring him off the becn ha few times to get used to the game and then play him 1st team. Him and Keown would produce a real strong combination at the back. We would lack pace though.

Id profer to see Elliott staright back in & Dabizas out .....Dabizas is forever making mistakes , Thats why you always see Keown telling him stuff to do and improve ! Elliott & Keown are two natural leaders maybe not the fastest but they have vital experience

Sorry but we CANNOT have a 38 year old and a 35 year old at the center of our defence. I thought only Micky would think of that but some of the fans are too?
