Fancy getting a couple of external cameras set up that’ll stream to a hard drive or card. Anyone able to recommend a good set up as I really don’t trust online reviews anymore?

Also, and probably really important, I know dick about this beyond not wanting to spend four figures.

I researched this and went to Eufy…. My parents house in France got done over a couple of times, so set up a couple of external cameras, some window sensors and a few PIR sensors

it was really simple (ish)

The key point is that it doesn’t require any monthly fees (that’s their USP)

I don't know how good they are but I believe Eufy now do wireless cameras that can be charged up for months at a time. There is one where the battery charge is topped up by a solar panel, seems too good to be true really

I read about the wireless recording being able to be interfered with, is this actually a thing? I mean surely it’s only going to be a high-end blag that’d involve such stuff?

If you’re looking for the best overall value, from an end user point of view. I’d look at the hilook colorvu range.

it’s basically a no frills version of a more expensive range by HikVision.

Personally I’d avoid wireless unless the cameras are going somewhere that you really can’t get a cable too.

If you install a central based recording system, once it’s set up it’s hassle free. You’ll be forever ****ing about with wireless cameras.

If any of my customers ever call up about wireless cameras they’ve added, they end up being problematic for them.

Yes it’s a thing, most cameras now have built in SD card slots as streaming recordings to clouds is easily interfered with.

Ring door bells and cameras are one of the weakest security range to get.
