Ticket 'sales' well it is actually a random draw process but as they say "you have to be in it to win it" for world cup 2022 go on sale in 1 hour (1pm Doha time).  see  https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/mens/worldcup/qatar2022/tickets

Though you have till the 8th Feb to get your entry in.

Would love to go to this perhaps for a week/v long weekend especially as there will be no high level football in the UK for 3-4 weeks but feel very uncomfortable about the political/worker treatment/social situation.

Thanks for this, applied for a load of tickets, hopefully will get some through. I imagine loads will go to corporates/sponsirs so will have to ask around for any spares. if i were to go, would ideally stay in Dubai as it's much more fun than Qatar, but not sure if that travel corridor is open anymore due to diplomatic mayhem??

EDIT - i thought i applied for laods of tickets but now its saying 'technical error'!!!

Just read some of the problems. No hotel rooms. Despite being the smallest country ever to host a World Cup, they won’t let you do more than one game a day.

Qatar airways of course have all in packages for £6000

don't believe what you read they are opening hotels like mad here friend of mine who is high up in a large hotel chain said thy are opening 11 hotels. plus there will also be the possibility to stay with locals like air bnb probably too early to book atm as quite a few hotels are still under construction

yeah i though that was weird i don't know why that is as one of the selling points of the tournament over here is that you can attend more than one game in a day given the close proximity of each stadium

I went onto Booking.com, tried 25th November for a single nights stay in Doha and there is no accommodation available.

Understand FIFA are arranging these hefty cruise ships but it's not a good sign that you can't secure yourself a hotel room while you are just about to gamble a good chunk of money on match tickets. Yet a travel company have secured numerous hotel rooms already

Like most things it will probably sort itself out nearer the time. You’d be mad to book anything now anyway, we might have a few lockdowns before November, and a lockdown in November! Never been to Qatar but if I was to go, would want to primarily base in Dubai or Bahrain, I’m sure lots will be thinking similar

Give me your details re dates and budget and I will ask around. BTW I reckon 60% of the hotels aren't open yet. Doha is on massive construction site atm

The First Come First Served sales period of Sales Phase (1) starts on 23 March 2022 at 11:00 CET / 13:00 Doha time and will end on 29 March 2022 at 11:00 CET / 12:00 (midday) Doha time. Tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability, and applicants may purchase tickets online at any time during the entire sales period. Ticket purchases are processed as a real-time transaction. Tickets will be allocated directly to the ticket applicants after payment is received, and they will immediately receive a confirmation email. We advise football fans to place their application as soon as the sales period opens, on 23 March 11H CET / 13H Doha time, as tickets will likely sell out quickly.

I think you have to have a match ticket in order to be able to book accommodation?

Ill apply for a conditional England ticket for the Final, but other than that I’m not fussed about missing this one.

Roll on Germany ‘24

Hi All

If anybody is thinking of coming over for the world cup or knows someone who is and they are looking for accommodation. I have a room available in Qatar in a 3 bedroom villa in a compound (compound also home to former LCFC player) . Number of people (within limits) and price negotiable. Use of all the amenities (kids playground (if that's your thing), squash count, tennis court, gym (fairly shit) and swimming pool) + airport pick up/drop of  included. Close to all the stadiums (well everywhere in Qatar is close to the stadiums TBH) big shopping centers (everywhere) sea (ditto).

contact [email protected] put "Qatar 22 Accommodation" in the title of the email to start the ball rolling so to speak.

Cheers

Stephen
