I'll be honest as someone who was bit by the gambling bug and still literally paying for the consequences. I don't really get the crusade against it at all. Same with alcohol and cigarettes and anything really.

All online bookmakers should have a central point of data. People should be required to set a monthly budget which is stored centrally. There's no limit to the budget, but if it's abnormally high then all you have to do if provide proof that you're good for the money and not going to get yourself into debt in order place bets.

If you save up for cheltenham or a world cup where you like to have a bit more of a gamble, then you can just send a statement to prove you have the funds available and a new budget can be approved.

There should be a separate company that oversees all of this.

Removing offers and free bet gestures is incredibly unfair on the 99% that are in control and really won't solve any issues.

In this day and age with the tech available, unless you're getting credit cards and withdrawing cash to go to bookies then it should be easy to allow people that are in control and can afford it to have their fun, whilst also protecting people who are not thinking logically. I would fancy most issues are with people online, as it's so easy to throw away huge amounts when you're looking at numbers on a screen. It's much more difficult to hand over wads of cash (for most people anyway)

It wouldn't be perfect but it'd be a hell of a lot better whilst being able to cater for all people wishing to gamble online.

Gambling ads aren’t damaging to the vast majority though. I think people still need choice in life.
There are a lot of things that are damaging to some people like social media, but I can’t see that being banned.

Shall we bring back smoking ads then as we need a choice?

Young people (16-20 mostly) are gambling at a fingertip online because it's so accessible without truly understanding how damaging losing 1/2 a monthly wage in a weekend can be.

I've been there, done it, got the t-shirt. Gambling should not be a commonplace advert end of

Wait you get WiFi at the ground? I've not been able to connect to any of them.

No, the opposite. There's barely a signal after 2'o clock

They already do their utmost to stop me gambling.

The wi-fi connection down there is so shit I can't get on the Ladbrokes app to place a bet anyway.

The only time I was able to use a betting app in the ground was when I found the wifi code in the away dressing room on a stadium tour. It worked for 2 years before the club cottoned on, changed the password and took down the display in the changing room (I’ve been on the tour again 😂.) A modern stadium like the KP should have public wifi tbh.
