Ric Flair Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 Has anybody seen this lad before? He plays for Stevenage Borough but he's lethal. He's a winger but can also play upfront aswell. I hadn't seen him until the highlights on match of the day on saturday but had heard he's destined for big things. He scored a cracker against Northampton and was unlucky not to score a couple more. I definately think we should go for this lad. What is it with the name Boyd? There's 3 of the buggers that i'd happily see at Leicester. I think he's worth signing and at 20 he's the perfect age.

Katy Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 Ill don my Louise cap and throw some facts at you then in her absence Name George BOYD Nickname(s) Boydie Date Of Birth 02/10/85 Place of Birth - Signed From EFCO Scheme Previous Clubs n/a Boro' Debut vs Halifax Town (H), 21 Feb 2003 The 2004/5 season again saw the talent of George Boyd shine through, as the young winger again made huge strides in terms of his development and his career. Although manager Graham Westley was looking to 'protect' the youngster, Boyd still racked up nearly fifty appearances over the course of the season, with almost half of them coming from the substitutes bench. Opposition defenders had real trouble coping with the tricky skills of Boyd, who proved effective in starting as much as he did coming off the bench against tired legs. Allegedly the subject of a bid or two from League clubs, Boro' have clung onto their rising star in the hope that he can further develop in the 2005/6 season and help lead Boro' one step further than their disappointment in the playoff final against Carlisle. However, whether the winger is given a more prominent and regular role to play in the first team will remain to be seen as the 2005/6 season gets underway. So there you have it

Ric Flair Posted 5 December 2005 Author Posted 5 December 2005 Not good enough for the championship Have you seen him play? Rumour has it that Leeds, Swansea and even some premiership clubs are after him. He definately stood out when against Northampton, but you might be right.
Katy Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 Would be a big jump I think but also consider this Career Statistics Year 2003- Apps 27 (22) Goals 4 Yellow 6 Red 1 With our disciplinary record at present? Hmmm

Ric Flair Posted 5 December 2005 Author Posted 5 December 2005 He's got 8 goals this season from the wing.

No my mates a fan and has seen him quite a bit, he was telling me that his only problems that has put bigger clubs off is that he is vey hit and miss on the performance he puts out. Also apparently he can go missing in games particulary when they are defending or gone a goal down...
Gené and Tonic Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 Which side is he? I'd happly take him if he were right sided. He wouldn't cost us much so definately worth a go.

Gené and Tonic Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 if so, get him in! But would Levein have the nerve?
Ric Flair Posted 5 December 2005 Author Posted 5 December 2005 if so, get him in! But would Levein have the nerve? He signed a few Scottish players at Hearts from their lower leagues. One of them being Andy Webster!
Thracian Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 Good question, well he scored a cracker with his right foot on saturday so possibly a right winger. I said we needed three things desperately. We also need a right winger well enough - but it's not necessarily a priority, depending on what happens with Smith. Sylla's got his supporters but to me he neither scores nor makes goals with any regularity. That being the case he's no good to us. If this kid does both, fine but not if we're going to have to be grooming him, protecting him, keeping him away from tough defenders, plugging his ears against unconvinced supporters for months on end. It's like the striker situation really - our need is now.
Gené and Tonic Posted 5 December 2005 Posted 5 December 2005 FM says he is a left winger, but their data for non-league is a bit suspect.

Smithy can play on the right and the question then is, will the lad be a significant improvement on Hammill cos I can't see that lad ever making it in highish level English football.
