I didn’t notice him having a good game. Are there any stats to check? His terrible free kick in the 2nd half sticks in my mind- I think it was after we were 1 down and when we needed players like him with his reputed great technique to deliver  but again he failed.
As to his shooting for one with so much talent, jeez 🙄

How do you define a good game for a defensive midfielder? He marked his player well for their goal, didn't make any glaring mistakes, delivered the ball forward for our attackers time after time. At 7:03 - fantastic 25 yard cross for Daka, whose header was well-saved by their keeper. There were other good plays from him yesterday. Our loss was no fault of his.

That and him screaming and visibly getting annoyed at Fatawu I'm assuming not making himself available for a pass

That's absolutely right, I saw that too. Fatawu was hiding behind their defender, with miles of space around him. I'd be pissed also, in Winks's position.

He also screamed at the referee for not awarding us the pk after Daka was clearly fouled in the box. So the guy's a screamer...big deal.

By the way, for all who didn't catch it - at 6:43 their player scores a goal with his hand.

We made chances, but just couldn't finish: Choudhury, Vestergaard, and especially Daka with that blunder in one on one with their keeper; that was as good a chance to put it in as you would ever see.

It’s so basic.

You leave one with pace near the halfway line and one or two outside the box.

We pay Hughes for this. It’s tragic.

Don't think this is just us. Pretty much every team brings the whole team back to defend corners now.

I’d define the best model to aim for as a dm as our brilliant Kante. Protect the back line consistently ( Winks doesn’t), great engine (Winks hasn’t ), always available for a pass (Winks isn’t) always moving (Winks strolls most of the game), gives 100% every game (Winks doesn’t) , has a positive effect on team mates .
Yes, I’ve just watched the LCFC highlights- that was a good cross in for the Daka header, but I didn’t see any of the long forward passes you’re talking about , and the free kick near the end was dreadful ( I think the comms on my stream were gobsmacked). In fact the best forward passes was by BDCR first half to Abdul (both also crap yesterday).
I didn’t say the loss was his fault. I just don’t agree he , or anyone, had a good game. I believe he plays most games without showing his full potential, so implying a weak mental attitude.

But it’s absolutely a hindrance

I'm guessing the stats don't bear that out. If there was a genuine advantage in leaving players up you'd see more teams do it.

We don't counter attack anyway so it's a moot point for us.

This illustrates exactly what I said - hatred for him is blinding. He had a good game yesterday and completed some well-placed forward long passes. One of the dear few players in yesterday's match who did what was right.

It illustrates that you are willing to accept really low standards from the highest paid championship player. He did absolutely nothing of note, he didn’t stand out as the worst player on the pitch, but certainly didn’t stand out as anywhere near the best.

I don’t remember him bursting forward either with or without the ball, sprinting into challenges, creating chances, etc etc.

I just don’t see any defence for him, I’m assuming you’ve said something that you now feel the need to be right… or maybe you can pull out some match stats that prove your point??

Saw a video taken from a Pompey fan from the opposite end of the ground of the fans abusing the players and the amount of people still clapping or waving "Can I have your shirt please Winksy" banners is staggering.

Some of you deserve all of this.
