It's more than just a friendly or the context. If Martin had done even a smidge of research he'd know what Faes has done and said to this club. He's insulted the club and presided over 3 relegations. He doesn't need to be the captain of Leicester in any context. 

 

We've had 3 or 4 managers worth of 'fresh starts' and the rebuilding of trusts. How has that gone? We're doing okay right? 

 

It's more than just being a captain in a meaningless friendly and if you can't see that I can't help you anyways. You're too far gone. 

 

 

You don't have to like him or want him to play for the club again. If the manager likes him and thinks we've got a better chance of winning games with him playing if we're unable to get rid of him for an acceptable fee then he'll play him and I'm comfortable with that even if I don't like Faes myself.

Managers liking Faes, Winks, Vestegaard etc and thinking they'll get us points is WHY WE ARE IN THE SHIT.

It's not the sole reason though is it? It's giving them the contracts that we did that made them virtually unsellable and meaning that we weren't able to replace them due to the financial constraints partly in place due to them still being around. 

You can understand why someone coming in from the outside would think that picking those players would be a good idea for a club playing in the Championship. MOST other clubs in the Championship, rightly or wrongly, would have loved to have had those players. Faes, whilst I don't like him, was playing in Ligue 1 last season and relatively recently playing for Belgiums national team. Winks has just signed for a team in Serie A with a coach he previously played for at Sampdoria. Vestergaard up until relatively recently was playing for Denmark's national team. Don't like any of them, but you can also see why a manager coming into the club fresh would choose to play them.

Faes is one of Belgiums golden generation.

 

Vestegaard has premier league experience.

I'm not sure if you've heard but we are not a club in the championship.

 

Thanks to the underperformance of the likes of Winks, Vestergaard and Faes.

 

If you can recognise why managers would choose to play these players surely you can also recognise that when these same managers have gotten more familiar with them that they fall out of favour, even getting frozen out.

 

Even under Enzo who was the only manager to stick by them the fans were begging Faes to be dropped towards the end of the season as his constant mistakes eroded our 17 point lead on 3rd place.

 

Under no circumstances can Faes be allowed to start in this upcoming season. You can state that most championship clubs would love to have him but the evidence would suggest that that is incorrect, based on both performances and lack of interest in the market.

I've not stated anywhere that I'd have played them myself or that they deserved to play, far from it. I dislike all 3 massively and don't wish to see them anywhere near a Leicester shirt ever again. For the pedigree of all 3 players, they all let us down through lack of application and poor attitude as opposed to lack of ability, which is pretty unforgivable.

It was more understandable when Cooper, Van Nistelrooy or Cifuentes tried to make Faes work as a player as he wasn't as infamous as he is now. At this point his track record of letting managers down is so clear and obvious that it is just nonsensical for Martin to not pay it any heed and play him, let alone give him the captain's armband considering his relationship with the fans.

 

It's just a decision that has caused needless controversy and which lacks any form of common sense.

Nah its all good. 

 

Faes being captain is fine. It's the new manager with a great idea. We've not had managers yet that have actually valued Faes. Could be the missing link.
