Benji Posted 2 October 2004 Share Posted 2 October 2004 thought i'd name a few bands that i'd reccommend to anyone that listens to a lot of indie music firstly snow patrol are a personal favourite of mine with Run being my favourite song..... ever recently found a band called 'Sleeping at last', they have some very good songs, Ghosts in particular The stills - a couple of songs are very good but then theyt seem to have a few i really cant listen to - Gender bombs is my favourite out of all of theirs The notwist, abandoned pools (i think they are indie? well Blood is-ish) and loads more but if you havent heard of them but like indie i'd reccommend you trying them anyone got any not well known, uncommercialised bands that they've found/like i should try out? MC Prussian Posted 3 October 2004 Share Posted 3 October 2004 Ooooohhhh.... Independent Music, here we go! I am a deep lover of that section, so here are my favourites: ROCK/POP - Dispatch (they have split up, but are one of the, if not THE best group in the States. For their last gig in Boston this July, around 100'000 fans from all over the world showed up!!!! :w00t: If you can, get the double Live CD "Gut The Van") - Pepper's Ghost (wild, rebellious, playful and always good for a show on "Opening Night") - O.A.R. (Abbreviation for Of A Revolution. The old albums are not recommended, rather stick with the newest, called "In Between Now And Then". A former College band that has greatly evolved.) - Sam Roberts (Though they are very popular in Canada, it appears that everything Canadian turns independent automatically as soon as it enters foreign territory. "Brother Down" was a HUGE hit in 2002. Get the album "We Were Born In A Flame".) - 311 (A couple of guys formerly from the American Middle West who went to L.A. a couple of years after foundation. Give it a go.) EASY LISTENING -G. Love & The Special Sauce (Cool, hip, fresh, funky. I love every single album since they were firstly issued in 1994. Try to catch all the tunes, do NOT buy the BEst Of Album!!! Garrett Dutton, the front man and his two fellas are synonymes for smooth sounds and saucy lyrics (if you read between the lines )) -Jack Johnson (close friend to the aforementionned G. Love, this surfer/director/singer/songwriter is just pure easyness. Catchy tunes that are perfect for a nice evening with your girlfriend:))
