Muz Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 During the match against Preston in the League i was thinking (Because the game was shite) that i would prefer to se Scowy up front with Connolly/Benjaman.I just feel that Scowy is a good bet to score goals. And if he got his chance up front i think he would bang a few goals in.I also think that in order to start Banging goals in we need to cement a solid partnership up front and no chaging it everyweek. Lets face it as much as i hate to say this Dion Dublin does not give to shits about the club!He does not run and he is only here to pick up his pension.Scowcroft is a proven goal scorer ie.In his time at Ipswich he played up front and was hitting the back of the net that week in week out.I just think he's wasted on the wing. Another point i want to make is about Gareth Williams. This player has got talent. But us Leicester City fans are never going to see this if the ball is going over his head all the time.At Forest he was good because they play the ball on the floor not to great affect but they still did.By doing this it Brought Gareth into the game. What is the point having a midfielder who loves the ball at his feet and likes to knock the ball acrosss the floor if we hoof it past him. This is why he is getting stick because Micky Adams is making him look bad.For Instance the 2nd half at Rotherham,We put the ball on the floor and Gareth was in his Element he knocked the ball about and looked like a good talent. But against preston on saturday he got stick because he was not in the game. This is another reason why i want Micky out he has no Tactical Knowledge. We defo need a manager who likes the ball on the ground ie.Mike Newell i saw his team Luton take on Wednesday a couple of weeks ago and the only time the ball went in the air was from a goal kick. They played the ball on the floor and looked good and thats without a passer in the team.Imagine if we had a manager like that Williams would look class. Also what is the point playing the ball in the air to Connolly its ridiculous.Again this is another example at West Ham he banged in The goals beacause they played the ball on the floor to him. We've all seen signs of brilliance and he loves to bring people in to play so if we played football i think David Connolly would also Benefit greatly! Thanks for reading. And one last word MICKY OUT!!!!!
Cat Burger Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Good post Luke. I hate it when people slate Williams, it peeves me off no end. He's not going to be an Izzet. But he is a damn good player
Benji Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 good point on gareth williams that i've pointed out on different forums IMO people have judged his background and not his football yes, its obvious to everyone off the ball he is pretty invisible, but on the ball he is a talented player and we were warned, when we got him forest fans told us, stick a man next to him who's going to stick their foot in and win the ball because gareth wont, so you can't say it's been a surprise when he got cheered off i couldn't believe it, theres no way he played as badly as some of the muppets on the field against preston. but still, leicester fans are leicester fans, it is our job to diminish every player before they get a chance to show what they can do
Leicester_Mad Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 much rather have Lilian in there than Gareth Williams. I'm sorry but Gareth has looked pathetic and not interested where as Lilian looks that slightly more passionate for the club
Cobbo Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 As good a player that Williams may or may not be, Nalis has showed a lot more so far this season and in my opinion should never have been dropped. Players should be picked on their current form, not what they can potentially do.
Ash Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 I feel that if we get a new manager in , You will see a new player in Williams.A Williams who will play to his potential
Scow Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Going back to the original subject. Scowcroft looks the best option for a starting place upfront based on current form. Not just the fact he's our top scorer, his general performances on the right wing have been consistent - No, I don't mean consistently crap.
Buzzell Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Scowys a striker, not a winger. He will perform better in the position he was based upon. He would do very well for us up front I think, its just Adams cant see it.

He was terrible up front against Preston when Wright went off, even Blake looked better than him as a striker  I wouldnt name him as a sub unless we had an injury crisis
BartonFox Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Scowie is out wide because Adams and Cork like to have the ball hoofed up for him to compete against a small full back and set it up for the midfield. Well that's their theory and it worked in about 1985-1993, then Graham taylor got found out at international level using it and UK teams and managers adapted. Sadly someone forgot to tell Adams and Slaphead. Scowcroft is a tremendous CF, shame we'll never see it.
Sparky Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 scowcroft is a good centre forward but rarely gets a chance there , but wherever he plays he works his socks off , i think he should be 1 of the first names on the teamsheet
dpjfox Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Scowy will get his spot up front as soon as Harper is fit, anyone know when that is?

Guest Posted 6 October 2004 Posted 6 October 2004 Scarecrow is playing at his level, hence the improvement in his performance. World player of the year, perhaps? ;-)
Anish Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 much rather have Lilian in there than Gareth Williams. I'm sorry but Gareth has looked pathetic and not interested where as Lilian looks that slightly more passionate for the club 24684[/snapback] I agree. The way we are playing I'd rather have Nalis in midfield instead of Williams. If we are going to hoof the ball up front every game then Williams is wasted. Nalis's passing is just as good (in fact better IMO) than Williams, and NAlis also gets stuck in and isn't afraid to make challenges anymore. Plus Nalis has a great shot on him and has scored 2 goals this season. Micky's treatment of Nalis has been appalling...but then again I shouldn't be surprised.
