Scow Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 With Micky Adams resigning, and the future of a permanent manager uncertain, now is the time to get behind Leicester City, Yes, Bassett and Wilkinson are not most people’s choices in taking this club forward, but we have to remember they’re only temporary. I hope we all get behind them, irrespective of our feelings towards them. When I heard Wilkinson was named first team coach, I thought it was some sort of sick joke. However, I’ve had a think about the situation and realised the only way we’ll get through this period of uncertainty is if we give the management and players our full backing. Whether it will be for 1 game or 25 games, we have to accept the situation we’re in. I was one of those people who wanted Adams out, and I still maintain that view. However, I didn’t envisage we would have a management duo of Bassett and Wilkinson, but that’s how it’s turned out. One plus side is that both have considerable experience in the game and hopefully can keep matters ticking along until we find a suitable replacement. I would have been satisfied with just Bassett in control for the time being, but we’ve got Wilkinson now, and obviously a large number of Leicester fans (Including myself) are not happy with it. I firmly believe these two are dinosaurs in terms of football management – Both of them have had their day, and their methods/thinking are behind that of modern football. The next 3 games will show whether they’re up for the challenge. Irrespective of how well they do, I seriously doubt the board will appoint either of them on a permanent basis. Let’s get behind the team, win a few games, and make us attractive to the right manager.
Steven Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Talking more sense as you get older :!: :: :w00t:
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Well said Scowy. I just don't get why people call Wilkinson a twat after less than a day. He's here for the time being and he's representing our club so let's get behind the management duo and the team.
Ricey Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Firstly I think it would be disaterous to appoint Bassett/Wilkinson permantley, I'm confident that won't happen though. For a short period Bassett and Wilkinson are ideal, they will give the players a kick up the arse and get them motivated. They are not going to sign new players, change or style drastically or change tactics too much...they will just use their knowledge and motivational skills (which they certainly have) to get this team in a good state for the new manager. I'm really excited about the coming games because alot of the pressure has gone from the players and it's a fresh start. Let's get behind Bassett and the lads because the season starts here!
King Kyle lcfc Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Typical! Your all up for getting behind sgt Wilkinson and Harry, maybe if you had the same attitude towards Micky we wouldn't be in the shit were in now.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 You're right Ricey. The season starts now but this time the players should've gelled and know how to play with each other.

King Kyle lcfc Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 ok Ricey but fans like you and me were very few and far between mate
dpjfox Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Well said KK How long are we going to give the next manager?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 We needed a new start as did Micky in my opinion. It was time for a change just to freshen things up. In time I think it will proove best for both parties that he's gone.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Were not sayin it was wrong for micky to leave just wrong for most of our fickle supporters to get on his back and not support him.

It was mainly the players I slated. I don't usually boo the players off the pitch either but I did against Preston in the cup. To me that just showed how poor we are.and have been this season.

Please god im wrong. spelling i know
Ric Flair Posted 13 October 2004 Posted 13 October 2004 The new manager will get enough support from the fans I guarantee it. We aren't all unreasonable, we just want the best for our team. If our team under-achieves, which is what we are currently doing then there will be some unrest from the fans and that's understanable and inevitable. Some fans do need to look in the real world and accept we arent the force we once were, but Adams demise was painful and it was right that he went. The mistakes he made were too dangerous to ignore and the fact he refused to learn from them was also a concern. Us fans were behind him all the way, even when things went wrong last season, but he lost the plot after La Manga and he was in a situation where he wasn't enjoying his job, we were getting more frustrated with him and it turned in to a horrible situation. I honestly think that the majority of managers out there will be able to do just as good or even better job than Micky has been doing this season on a short term basis. It's long term where the manager gets found out and if our new manager doesn't cut the mustard then they will also get the push, that's the way it works. It's business, if your not good enough or your position becomes untenable you have to leave. I think the fans need some assurance that Bassett and Wilko are DEFINATELY only temporary, if the board confirm that I think the fans will put their minds at rest and get on with things. I'll be behind them, but I damn hope they **** off asap.
