Liverpool draw Man Utd in FA Cup

Liverpool were handed a home tie against Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The two rivals were paired together in the draw for the final 16 at the FA's headquarters at Soho Square.

League One sides Brentford and Colchester were both rewarded with Premiership ties.

Brentford will make the short trip to Charlton, while Colchester face an away tie at the winners of the Everton and Chelsea replay.

Colchester boss Phil Parkinson, whose side beat Derby in the fourth round, said: "It's a great draw for us, we've been waiting three years for pull out a good draw and either Everton or Chelsea will be fantastic.

"Off the pitch it means about £1m for us. On the pitch it's a great opportunity for my young players to test themselves against Premiership opposition."

Bolton, who knocked out holders Arsenal at the weekend, face an all-Premiership tie at home to West Ham.

Aston Villa and Manchester City face each other at Villa Park.

Under-fire Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is handed a home game against his former club Southampton.

Full draw:

Preston/Crystal Palace v Coventry/Middlesbrough

Newcastle v Southampton

Aston Villa v Manchester City

Everton/Chelsea v Colchester

Charlton v Brentford

Liverpool v Manchester United

Bolton v West Ham

Stoke v Reading/Birmingham

Ties to be played on weekend of 18 February.

Would have liked Leicester to have gone through to play Newcastle. Would have been good to watch Leicester in homeland. Wish we would have gone through now!

I was a bit pissed off as well. If the Mags had beaten Wigan and we'd done Bolton, we would have been playing them in the League Cup QF too. :(
