Rob Kelly confirmed that he was pleased to see his side stretch their lead over the relegation places to seven points following the Foxes' 2-2 draw with Derby County on Tuesday night.

Leicester had gone into the game on the back of a three match-winning streak following victories over QPR, Wolves and most recently Brighton.

And City would extend their unbeaten run to four games - although in all fairness they could count themselves unlucky not to have made it 12 points out of 12 on the night.

He said: "We are disappointed not to have won the game, but the bigger picture is we have moved a point further away from the relegation places.

"That's how we are looking at it. We just want to gather as many points as we possibly can in a short period of time.

"We have yielded 10 out of 12 points from our last four games and we would have certainly settled for that beforehand. We will get on with preparing for our next game now which is against Leeds United."

The visitors took the lead against the run of play in the 23rd minute through Mounir El Hamdaoui, before Iain Hume made it all square ahead of the break.

And although City looked to have won the game when Alan Maybury smashed the ball home on 54 minutes, A Richard Stearman own goal meant that the points would be shared on the evening.

He added: "I'm sure it was a great game of football to watch for the neutral. It was a terrific match, but we are obviously disappointed not to have picked up all three points.

"We had a number of opportunities to win it, although you are always more concerned when you aren't creating any chances.

"I thought that we showed great resilience and character after going a goal down. Iain Hume, who had had a couple of good opportunities, didn't hide and he took his goal really well.

"We play to our strength up front. There is no point punting balls up there. I've said before that it is not a complicated game and we will do what we can do."

The City boss was also full of praise for the Foxes faithful, who were again in fine voice on the night.

He said: "The crowd were again fantastic. When we went a goal down they immediately backed us and I can't praise them highly enough. I know it sounds a bit corny, but they really are our twelfth man at times."

Rab Douglas failed to emerge for the second half after picking up an injury during the first period, and Kelly confirmed that he was just pleased to have an able deputy standing by.

He added: "Rab has got a problem with his quad that he picked up during the game. But Paul Henderson came in and we are lucky that we have got an able number two.

"We haven't always put a 'keeper on the bench but I had something of a premonition ahead of the game today. I wish the same thing happened to me when I picked my lottery numbers!"

What a top bloke.

Honesty and as Shum says common sense in the way we are playing.

Nice to see he has a sense of humour too.
