Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 What car does everyone own? I know this has been done before but wondering if anyones got new cars, e.t.c.? Currently I am driving a Vauxhall Corsa 1 litre, which I have owned for 1 year and 2 months. I passed my test 1 year ago Thursday just gone so today have celebrated by buying a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 it is a 2004 reg I just have to sort my insurance out and it is mine hoping to get it about Thursday time. I wanted a VW Golf, but I got a good deal on a vertually new Polo so decided to go for the Polo - Cheaper than a Golf, Cheaper insurance, Newer than any Golfs currently available, Better specs than any Golfs available. ...I'm skint now, better start saving again now
Durnerz Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Getting mine at some point this week, after either a Corsa, Ford Fiesta or Peugeot 106 as a first car for me, dreading the insurance though!
Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Author Posted 19 February 2006 Getting mine at some point this week, after either a Corsa, Ford Fiesta or Peugeot 106 as a first car for me, dreading the insurance though! Not too sure about the other but Corsa was my first car, Insurance was £1700 (Tesco) but then I did my Pass Plus and received a cheque back for £200. Also not sure about the other because i've not driven one but Corsa are a good little fun car to drive and for a 1 litre they are very nippy, Great acceleration, are really fun to wheel spin off at Traffic Lights. I will miss my Corsa when I get my new car. I'm hoping I don't have to pay too much extra insurance on my new car because it is 1 group higher than a Corsa (Corsa is Insurance group 2, Polo is Insurance group 3) but my new car is newer, higher litre, and more expensive so hoping it is not to much more insurance

Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Author Posted 19 February 2006 Try confused.com for insurance I just saved my wife £200 I already have insurance, My Corsa is insured so its just a case of upgrading and paying the extra amount for a Polo, I paid something like £800 for insurance on my Corsa this year, I am with Norwich Union currently, My first year I was with Tesco though. I think I did try confused but I got a rubbish quote from there I think(I got quotes from so many places i've forgot) Norwich Union and Tesco are best places for young drivers insurance.
Knighton Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 I got my Corsa 1.2Sxi from Vauxhall with a year's free insurance 0% finance and no deposit. If you've got a stable regular monthly income it might be worth your while taking advantage of this deal as the insurance alone will save you c£1,500.

That counts me out then! ....and I drive a Rover 620
SystonFox Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 www.bell.co.uk do a quote, add your mum and dad as drivers if they drive and it will bring your insurance down. it is 100% legal as they may want to drive it at some point, wether they do or not is your choice!
Matt Posted 20 February 2006 Author Posted 20 February 2006 Ain't got a clue how this works out but I have got all my insurance sorted out today and I am actually getting a refund of £45.13. Corsa + Lower engine + Worth less money - Older Car - More likly for things to go wrong - Not brilliant in accidents - 18 Year old driving it - Less Secure Polo + Very good/Safe in accidents + Secure - Worth (Alot) more money - Higher engine - New Car - 18 year old driving - More likly to be attempted to steal/break into How does a Polo work out cheaper than a Corsa? Oh well, I ain't complaining - Just confused.
