Scow Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 I know he's on a three month contract, but does anyone know when it expires exactly? We better ship him out, but knowing Bassett, he'll be keen to keep him. <_<
Mark Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 Three months after we signed him So soon i expect, August, September, October He's from the Bassett Forest days so i'm sure he's done enough to stay for the season <_<
Anish Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 Well Bassett did start him at Coventry, so unfortunately I think he'll try to sign him for another contract. Get him out I say, we have Gudjonsson who can do a holding role, and Dawson too if there are major injuries. Gemmill adds nothing to the team, he isn't very creative, he doesn't support the attackers well, he's not got a good shot on him, and he's not exactly renowned for his battling qualities and winning the ball.
Ash Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 He hasnt done enough to earn a new contract with us !
Hullfox Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 He hasnt done enough to earn a new contract with us ! 28171 agreed

Guest Daniel Posted 20 October 2004 Posted 20 October 2004 Oh yeah, forgot Everton didnt want him. He needs a haircut aswel, looks a right tramp.
bluefox Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 He hasnt done enough to earn a new contract with us ! 28171 Get rid. A player who has only got this far because he has a famous dad IMO
andy_croydz Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 i think hes good, he is renown for his battling qualities actually and his work rate is good, hes a player who gets stuck in who we need ffs

Gemmil is shocking, get rid of this piece of trash now. We need quality players to get back up to the Prem and Gemmil isnt a player that can help us when weve got players like Williams, Nalis, Gudjonssen, Scowcroft. Please get rid!!
Anish Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 It shows just how much opinions differ in football. Andy I respect your opinion but I think you're in the minority on this one.

TrickyTrev Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 I would not offer him a new contract and would glady show him the door but there is no question that he has played better fur us than Joey Gudjonsson and Willimas who have bother been far worse.

Please get rid!! 28327 Well you can't compare him to Williams or Scowcroft they have completely different playing styles and attributes. It's fair to compare him to Nalis and Gudjonsson. I think Nalis has performed the best of the 3, Gemmil has had one or two good patches, unfortunately Gudjonnson has fallen well short of expectations in my mind. But the bottom line is I think with Nalis, Gudjonsson and Dawson we have enough cover for that type of player, so Gemmill should not be retained and should be replaced by either a left or right winger type midfielder. Sorry Gemmill your OUT.

Dawson might be able to develop into a premier ship player. Be the new Lennon.
Hullfox Posted 23 October 2004 Posted 23 October 2004 I'd like to withdraw my earlier comment. On today's performance I reckon he could do a job for us.
Scow Posted 23 October 2004 Author Posted 23 October 2004 I'd like to withdraw my earlier comment. On today's performance I reckon he could do a job for us. 28698 He did Ok today, nothing special, but he kept things ticking over in midfield. However, I still think Dawson would be a better option. I've seen both players in action this season, Dawson would certainly offer us more.
davieG Posted 23 October 2004 Posted 23 October 2004 I'd like to withdraw my earlier comment. On today's performance I reckon he could do a job for us. 28698 I thought Gemmill was the man of the match in the first half, directing the game, calling for the ball, running into space, covering all the midfield, all the things I expect from Williams and don't see and spreading passes around. Unfortunately like everyone else in the team seem to disappear in the second half.
Anish Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I thought Gemmill was ok yesterday - he kept the ball ticking across the midfield and looked quite good in possession. However, his passing ability and tackling was comprehensively overshadowed by Nalis, who was outstanding imo. Gemmill looked far too afraid of shooting when he was 20-25 yards out, opting to play a stupid 2-5 yard pass to another player instead. Also, he doesn't offer the attacking dimension that Williams does - in terms of movement and running ahead of the attackers.

He should have had a pop from 20-25 yards out in those weather conditions. For me, Nalis was man of the match yesterday. His distribution was sharp and crisp. Plus, he seemed to be everywhere in midfield. Alot of people are saying Tiatto was man of the match, but his committment to win the ball often sucks him in to the centre of midfield, which leaves Stewart far too exposed down the left. There were a number of occasions where Stoke had so much space down the right - I'm just glad they didn't take advantage of it.
Scow Posted 24 October 2004 Author Posted 24 October 2004 Ive started to become a fan of Nalis laterly ! 28886 You've finally started to see sense.
