Oxford United’s Julian Alsop is said to have tried to shove a banana up his backside as a prank went too far. The terrified 16-year-old, who was reportedly stripped naked, wept as other players egged Alsop on. What has been described as a play fight two weeks ago at Oxford’s training ground soon spiralled out of control. Witnesses claimed Alsop, 31, got angry when the boy retaliated. Alsop was said to have stripped him and then started whipping him with a towel. Encouraged by other players, Alsop, allegedly manhandled the still-naked boy out on to the training pitch. He got another player to hold down the youth while he fetched a banana, which he is then alleged to have tried to ram up the boy’s backside. Amazingly, the matter was not reported to police because the teenager felt it might affect his future at the club. But his furious parents went to the League Two club to protest after hearing of the alleged incident. They demanded action and Oxford manager Graham Rix  who served time in prison after being found guilty of having sex with a 15-year-old girl in 1999  fired Alsop on Monday.

Should be locked up even if he thought it was a prank. If 31 year old Joe Bloggs from leicester did that to a 16 year old kid he'd do time and his life would never be the same but a footballer can get away with it makes me sick.

If anybody else was guilty of basically sexual assault at the workplace they would be up on a police charge, and rightly so would find it nigh on impossible to be employed by anybody else ever again. What happens to Alsop, sacked this week and lo and behold he turns up with a new contract at a new club straight away. Disgraceful just proves football has no respect for morals, no wonder players act like such twats.

At the very least you would hope he's been thrown out of the organisation otherwise they would appear to condone sexual bullying!

Northampton should be fined with bringing the game into disrepute for taking the man on and the player himself should banned for life, charged by the police and forced to publicly apologise for his actions.

Guest Posted 25 October 2004 Posted 25 October 2004 If this is true, then the police really need to get involved. It's a despicable act to carry out, and he deserves to be rightfully punished for it. If he's done it once, how many other times do you think he's done it?
