The Don Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 Its coming to that time of year again. And again I have the old dilemma of what to get the old dear. Traditional presents like chocs and flowers, or her favorite tipple. Anyone have any good ideas that I could pilfer??
Guest Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 Yet another made up day that the shops love to see, where people spend money they haven't got buying tat for someone who doesn't need it. Having said that, my birthday is a most auspicious occasion, and must be marked by bestowing copious numbers of expensive gifts upon my good person.
Bert Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 I got my Mum a mug couldn't really think of anything else to get her, as she'll get the others from my brother no doubt. It's her birthday tomorrow aswell, money money money. I think Mother's and Father's day are a farce i know it's a way to appreciate them but i also think it's just another farcical money making scheme.
Guest Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 Gifts mean more when they're given for no particular reason. Although it is against the law to forget my birthday, of course.

wonderboy Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 But they also give the impression that you've done something wrong or are after something!! thats the way women think mate you buy her something nice and you have to have done something wrong
The Don Posted 21 March 2006 Author Posted 21 March 2006 thats the way women think mate you buy her something nice and you have to have done something wrong Hence why I don't by presents except for the usual occasions. Hence the reason I'm partly single!!

The Don Posted 21 March 2006 Author Posted 21 March 2006 partly single ? Yeah, partly single. Have been singleish for past couple of years, but now I've been seein a nice young lady for the past 6 weeks, so I'm dating but not in a relationship, if I saw someone else, I don't think she'd be happy, but I wouldn't exactly call it cheating! But moving house today, she left her mobile at mine this morning, she doesn't know where I live, so could just dissapear if wanted!! Unforunitely, she knows where I drink, and I wouldn't do that to her really.

Foxing_Around Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 Anyone have any good ideas that I could pilfer?? If you're brassic, then how about compiling a CD of your Mum's favourite songs, relatively inexpensive but shows you've thought about her.
holly Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 nothing, you dont need a designed day to tell your mum you love her!!
Chimp Posted 21 March 2006 Posted 21 March 2006 It's Mothers Day soon? Damn, thanks for reminding me...

Guest Posted 22 March 2006 Posted 22 March 2006 When's your birthday then? Sunday! Unfortunately the clocks go forward, so it's only 23 hours. They've thieved my birthday.
Rincewind Posted 22 March 2006 Posted 22 March 2006 Put this in a card if you want. You have my permission to reproduce it. -------------------Mother-------------- When all alone, quiet, and lost in thought, I see again the times when I was young. I smile for attention I often sought, Knowing if I was sad then you would come. You would dry the teardrops that then would flow Be my bedside nurse on a restless night. A soothing word and I'd forget my woe, Consoled that you were not far from my sight. Your wrath confused me when I misbehaved, Never believing I was ever wrong. But now I see love through your stormy rage, With your wise words I have grown Oh so strong. So when I think of you, Mother and friend, All regrets are over, all sorrows end. Written around 1996 and based loosely on one of W.S.'s sonnets. It took several attempts before I got the correct number of sylables (sp) in each line. So if you criticise take that into consideration.
