foxes_fan Posted 5 April 2006 Posted 5 April 2006 I sued the council about 5 years ago for £1,900 and as i wasn't 18 so i wasn't allowed the money until i reached my 18th birthday. My 18th birthday was on the 21st of last month and i received some paper work to fill in to verify i was infact 18, and also i had to put my bank details in for payment. I sent that off straight away and have heard nothing since. Has anyone had any dealings with the 'court funds' and know how long i will have to wait until i receive my money? Thanks.

I'm a nosey git. suppose I was on my paper round one early sunday morning, and the council had been working on the street about a week before, but they had left alot of gravel on the road and pavement, and being a stupid fool like i am i didn't see it and fell off my bike breaking my cheeck bone in the process and losing conciouns for a couple of minutes, luckily for me a fairly old couple came out of their house and helped me up and took me in their house where they rang my parents. Funnily enough they had been on the council about all the gravle they had left behind. So i got my solcitor on the case and won £1,900 although it did take about 3 years for them to actually admit responsibillty.

Nice one! Well it say's you should have received a letter from them 5 or 6 weeks before your 18th and if all paperwork is correct you should have received payment 5 days after your 18th. Even so even if you didn't sign the form until your 18th it should still be a week max before you receive payment. Reading between the lines it looks like they invest the money for you in stocks and shares so at 5% a year that should work out at around an extra £500 over 5 years but normally you get more then 5%! Don't get your hopes up though I didn't read it thoroughly!!

Read the section on child payments, there is a link to investments and I assume that will say how they invest your money while you are waiting for it

Does not diminish responsability from the council - if you fall down a hole that the council should have put protection around then it does not matter if you admitted you were clumsy, not looking where you were going etc. its still cause and effect.

Payouts for Insurance claims are a fraction of what Councils pay into pension funds for the lazy twats who sit around on their arses all day doing sod all for 40 years then retire on a full pension and sit around on their arses all day doing sod all! I'm sure I read somewhere that 20% of the tax you pay goes into council workers pension funds
