Dr The Singh Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 i dont think we are going to find another keeper next season why not give logan a chance i hope douglas goes and im not sure about henderson he can be a liabiltiy sometimes. I would be willing to give the lad a go, i think both Henderson and Douglas are poor but i can't see it happening, Kelly will stick with the more experienced keepers and the chances of signing\selling one is remote!!!
Strokes Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 We really ought to have used these nothing games to see how some of these fringe players can handle the big day. I see many positives in giving younger players a chance when your season is effectively over. 1. They have more to prove than say a regular first teamer and would add enthusaism too perhaps a lackluter game. e.g O'Grady against plymouth 2. It gives them a taste of first team action and could really make them focus if they believe they are close to the 16. 3. It gives anybody interested in loaning them a chance to see them cope with first team football.
Loake Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 on the championship it said he was star man for boston, it only showed one okay save though
Guest Gist Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 on the championship it said he was star man for boston, it only showed one okay save though But thats the Championship for you, I heard he has impressed everytime he has played there I would defo give him ago now we are safe and have nothing to lose.
Knighton Matt Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I'm still amazed people can say Henderson has been poor???????? I think he's been solid since he came into the team. His kicking was admittedly poor to start with but has imporved loads (can't remember one dodgy kick against Plymouth). He also commands his area well and makes match winning saves consistently (seem to remember he got Stearman out the s**t on Sat after a sloppy back pass). We have no money, are we going to do better? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
willy37 Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 hendo has improved dramatically. i was so impressed with the way he commanded his box and was assertive on crosses against plymouth and as for logan from what ive seen i havent been impressed.
saffronfox Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 hi guys new member so don't give me to much stick but what about walker if he would come back?
Nationwider Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 hi guys new member so don't give me to much stick but what about walker if he would come back? Welcome to the forum, saffronfox. Unless he's got an overwhelming urge to play for a relative pittance in a lower league, I think Ian Walker will happily do the Mart Poom/Kevin Poole/Pegguy Arphexad thing and pick up a tidy wage as a reserve GK for a few years in the Prem. Mrs Walker is high-maintenance, allegedly.
saffronfox Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 i know but at the end of last season he said he would take a pay cut and all that so, i know its not going to happen but i think he could be very good in this div.
davieG Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 i know but at the end of last season he said he would take a pay cut and all that so, i know its not going to happen but i think he could be very good in this div. Problem is there's pay cuts and there's paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cuts. Walker was probably on £30 to £35k / week. His idea of a pay cut was probably down to £20k / week. We're looking at people on £5 to £7K per week. Or there abouts.
holly Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 i wanna see what logan has to offer, did hear he has done well and didnt he win an award the last time he was at boston?? i wanna keep hendo in goal, logan will get his chance like hendo had to wait for! hendo has improved and i feel its all a confidence thing, they start doing things right they feel better and improve!! saffron fox
bigneville Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 I think Henderson & Logan will be a fine combination for next season. Henderson has impressed me recently. With Logan starting to push he could get cup games next season and even the occasional start. Bring him in slowly. We need to keep some older players in the side somewhere. Youth is good but not a team of young players. Need that vital bit of experience.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 Hendo is good enough to be first choice. Logan is proving himself to be worthy cover. Where does that leave Douglas? He's not going to want to leave unless he's offered a similar wage to the one we give him, and a long enough contract elsewhere. He's got another 2 years yet, he's got it made here. He's not one of our valuable assets, so if we got a hundred thousand for him, we'd have done quite well. Who wants to buy him and offer him that favourable contract, though?
Foxing_Around Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 He also commands his area well and makes match winning saves consistently (seem to remember he got Stearman out the s**t on Sat after a sloppy back pass). I don't think he commands his aread that well, he is far too slow at coming off his line to either clear or gather the ball, this has been displayed numerous times in recent games. If you mean the poor header back to Henderson by Stearman, it was Nils (who I thought was a class act on Sat) who slid in to clear the ball.
The Stig Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 One of Craig Leiviens biggest mistakes as LCFC manager was getting rid of Ian Walker.
The Don Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 One of Craig Leiviens biggest mistakes as LCFC manager was getting rid of Ian Walker. It wasn't a case of getting rid - it was a case of not being able to play his wages.
