Stearman - Professional Contract

Stearman's Debut Delight

Richard Stearman told us he was looking forward to

an exciting future at Leicester City after signing

a new professional contract.

The England youth international put pen to paper

on a two and half year deal on Friday.

And just a day later he made his first appearance

in the Championship as a second half substitute in

the match at Cardiff City.

Speaking after the game, Stearman said: "I signed

yesterday morning before we travelled up.

"I'm thoroughly happy with what I've got and that

I'll be with Leicester for the next three years.

"It's a nice reward for what's been a good start

to the season for me and I hope I can continue to

improve.

"I've been biding my time, waiting for my chance,

and now I've got my reward.

"I was buzzing today. I didn't really have much

time to prepare. I was called over and told I was

going on in midfield.

"The gaffer just asked me to run around, put in a

high energy performance and I was glad to do that

for him. "Hopefully it's the first of many appearances.

"I think a draw was probably a fair result today.

Both teams had patches of play. We hit the

woodwork a couple of times and so did they. We're

happy with the point.

"We definitely need wins, but at least for now

we're not losing. We're getting points on the

board and hopefully we'll start a winning run at

Crewe.

"The new manager has now come in and I hope he'll

select me. I'll be looking to impress him and get

in the team on Tuesday.

"He hasn't introduced himself as yet. We'll see

him on Monday obviously, get to work and get on

with moving up the table."

Nice to see he's getting good advice from our master tacticians :w00t:

Excellent news. I know a few big clubs were looking at him, so signing a professional contract was crucial. :)

But only 3 years, But i suppose if he doesnt turn out to be the prospect we thought then it would be easier to offload him.

People have got to realise that Petrescu and co must not be that good!

If they were i dont care who the manager is they would be playing.Like Rooney he was the only youngster in the Everton team but he got spotted because he was that good!

And although i want to believe that Tommy Wright is the answer to goals i just cant see it happening

Usually I would agree with you, but when we had one of the best academy teams in the region last season the law of averages says that atleast one or two of these players would be good enough for atleast championship standard.

Adams preferred experience to youth, he openly admitted that.
