Deathside Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 Net access is only available in the lobby of the hotel I'm in - and I can't be jarred to trek downstairs with my notebook just to go surfing Fortunetly tonight an unsecured wireless access point with net access has appeared I am currently connected to the net via an access point called Thierry-Server Cheers Thierry
Nationwider Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 I'm getting a DSL router for my interweb access over the next week or so, and a wi-fi card for the lappy. I've been told that on a good day, you can pick up about a dozen similar unsecured broadband network connections on our estate. A bit illegal to use them I believe, but makes you wonder if the owners bother with things like anti-virus software or firewalls either?
Newcastle_Fox Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 Last year we didnt pay for broadband at all we just used our neighbours. Unfortunately moved this year so we have to pay now.
Ricey Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 I used/tested my Dad's laptop last week after he brought it and towards the back of the house you could pick up a network signal....which I used/hogged for the weekend I also found a signal called Elvis <insert you own jokes and puns here>
Lemon Harpic Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 I also found a signal called Elvis <insert you own jokes and puns here> Was it near a chip shop?
Anish Posted 9 May 2006 Posted 9 May 2006 I can't believe people don't encrypt their wireless networks - my neighbour doesn't but unfortunately the signal is too weak for us to steal it! Not that I need to do that anyway cos we have our own (encrypted) wireless
