Chairman of the Bored Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 Has anyone seen it yet? It looks pretty damn realistic in the clips. When' it on in Lest-ah?
Benji Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 No matter who was to direct this/play a role in this or how poorly/well it was done, the first major film about 9/11 will be seen by almost everyone in the world who has a cinema accessable Everyone seems to have theories on what happened and some just accept what happened happened, either way it's just one of them things people will feel they have to watch
Chairman of the Bored Posted 28 May 2006 Author Posted 28 May 2006 Release Date (UK): 02 June 2006 (Certificate 15) Cheers Hitesh. Date for the diary there, I think.

Although the events on that day were indeed shocking, when compared to say, the tsunami of 2004, their effects were relatively marginal.

True, but i suppose the difference is it was a human forced thing. It is in everyones nature to, shall we say, be curious of what goes on around us. There are very few people (obviously this involves only those with accessibility to stuff like our fortunate selfs) that would say they wern't bothered/at all curious about 9/11. I'm sure a fair few more 9/11 films will come out after this one, but being the main one (actually based on a plane and using witness accounts etc) to come out first, especially in America, it will shoot right to the top of the box office.

Although the events on that day were indeed shocking, when compared to say, the tsunami of 2004, their effects were relatively marginal. Ummm, don't think so somehow. 9/11 has set the political agenda for years to come. Overt suspicion of Muslims by the West; a ratcheting up of counter-terrorist activites in the US, the UK and other Western ally states (including mass surveillance of non-hostile targets); a rationale for every liberal interventionist government on the planet.
Ultra Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 The phrase "liberal interventionist" is usually a contradiction in terms, especially in the Middle East. The problem I have with films like this is that they promote the myth that those who died on "9/11" were somehow more significant than those who die on other days in other places. Worse still, they can be used to propagate the view, expressed by Tony Blair and others, that "9/11 was the worst human atrocity of all time". Only those naive enough to place the USA at the centre of the universe can truly believe that. Sadly these include our government and most of our media (especially those elements controlled by Rupert Murdoch). Most of the planet, however, is a little more mature than that..
Guest Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 I shaln't be watching it. Noone knows what went on during that flight, and speculation will only add to the conspiracy theories. It looks to me like lazy screenplay writing.
