IDEA OR IKEA Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Well that's nice to know. Ive never met Jude Law properly before I know, it must be exiting. Apparently he is everything he says he is and also much better looking in the flesh! You will like him.
Katy Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 I know, it must be exiting. Apparently he is everything he says he is and also much better looking in the flesh! You will like him. Ok ill shall be on tenterhooks 'til I meet him them. Sounds like a nice chap, if a little big headed
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Ok ill shall be on tenterhooks 'til I meet him them. Sounds like a nice chap, if a little big headed No, dont mistake the 'big headed' nature for confidence, plus apparently hes a bit shy,so be gentle on him
Katy Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 No, dont mistake the 'big headed' nature for confidence, plus apparently hes a bit shy,so be gentle on him Ok, but I dont want Sadie, or indeed Sienna lamping me if we are seen in public.
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Ok, but I dont want Sadie, or indeed Sienna lamping me if we are seen in public. I will make sure he knows not to take them, anyway he said to me that they "...don't compare to your beauty", although he had been drinking
Katy Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 I will make sure he knows not to take them, anyway he said to me that they "...don't compare to your beauty", although he had been drinking That's a back handed compliment if ever there was one!
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 That's a back handed compliment if ever there was one! Ok the truth - he never was drunk at the time, he just told me to say so, so to avoid the compliment being too over the top and an to you
Chairman of the Bored Posted 30 May 2006 Author Posted 30 May 2006 The problem I have with films like this is that they promote the myth that those who died on "9/11" were somehow more significant than those who die on other days in other places. Worse still, they can be used to propagate the view, expressed by Tony Blair and others, that "9/11 was the worst human atrocity of all time". Only those naive enough to place the USA at the centre of the universe can truly believe that. Sadly these include our government and most of our media (especially those elements controlled by Rupert Murdoch). I don't think even B.Liar would, or could, say that 9/11 was the "worst human atrocity of all time." It was clearly the worst terrorist atrocity (killing the most people), but there is a list as long as your or anybody's arm for the worst atrocity, namely: 6 m Jews gassed by the Nazis 37 m Chinese slaughtered by Mao Se Tung god knows how many Ukrainians and Russians slaughtered by Stalin god knows how many Cambodians and others slaughtered by Pol Pot various natural disasters (another one this weekend killed more people than were killed in the Twin Towers) etc etc The point I was making was that 9/11 has accelerated the seismic political shift occuring between civilisations (the West and Muslim world) and has set the tone for geo-politics for some time to come. Until I've actually seen the film I won't assume anything of the film makers themselves. All I know thus far is that victims families have agreed to its making to record an act of heroism (i.e. the prevnting of the plane from being flown into a target with more loss of human life). As for anyone or anything being at the centre of the universe, I think we're all agreed that 'thing' is The Walkers Stadium and our beloved LCFC. . Or maybe not.

Katy Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 You're welcome. Sorry to put a dampener on the Cruise / Law debate, though to be honest I much prefer Nicole Kidman! Jude Law is a eupherism for something. Tom Cruise is a fruit loop.

Blair did say it - in the House of Commons the other week when attempting to justify the monstrosity that is Guantanamo Bay. But those tensions have been around for a long time - since Israel invaded the West Bank in 1967, and for which it has been shamelessly indulged by the West. The USA was also happy to do business with Saddam for decades as long as he kept militant Islam in check (and supplied the oil). From what I saw on Newsnight Review last week the film does an excellent job in conveying the drama and horror of the events of that day (and has been acclaimed by the victims' families). What it doesn't do, as far as I'm aware, is give any context of how and why those events took place. By the way, I too used to think that the FOXES were the centre of the universe, until I met my other half!

My soon to be wifey will be accompanying me to The Walkers next season. My ex- didn't give a stuff and 'twas one of the underlying tensions.....
