Tommeh Posted 13 June 2006 Posted 13 June 2006 Another interesting fact: Average age French squad: 30 years Average age Swiss squad: 24 years Thats because the French are past it and brought in 3 players out of retirment, i actually think they missed cisse, they were just so negative, 2 defensive mids vieira and makelele if England did that the country would rebel against Sven, well deserved point for switzerland though
MC Prussian Posted 14 June 2006 Author Posted 14 June 2006 Voila, 'ere is mon photo du match: J'aime bien le Barthez.
shen Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 Playing 4-5-1 against the Swiss is madness, especially as none of the midfielders were even supporting Henry. I felt sorry for Henry in that game, he clearly does not enjoy playing on his own and there was no way he could do it all himself. By the way, why wasn't Malouda playing? I've picked him in my Sun Dreamteam! That's a huge mystery to me as well. One of the best of the season, and he tore apart the Danish defense on a few occasions in the pre-WC friendly. Not only that, but Saha and Dhorasoo getting subbed in for Ribery and Wiltord while Malouda would've been a natural replacement for either is a bit odd. Domenech looks like a very poor coach, and based on this performance, he could not motivate his players much either. Too be honest, Henry didn't play too well himself either. But you're right, he seems to enjoy a right winger role more with France, and quite why Domenech started with Ribery - Henry - Wiltord instead of Malouda - Trezeguet - Henry is very mystifying. but that match interests everyone else on this board, and when watching your own team you don't mine a shite game but when your watching as a neutral it's hard to stay awake As a neutral I'd say both were terrible games, but England was slightly more painful as much of the second half was an embarrasment. Paraguay could, without a lot of effort, pass the ball around, in a lot of space, in the England half. And I felt very sorry for Crouch. Obviously it was similar in France's game, but the quality of the Swiss made it slightly better.
MC Prussian Posted 16 June 2006 Author Posted 16 June 2006 France were abysmal. Their coach will be in for some much deserved stick no doubt, that was a disgraceful performance and bad management.
