Daggers Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 As a few super-rich teams at the top of the pile become ridiculously powerful - what is to stop them running their own evil cartel? I think the time has come to impose wage caps on teams to limit the centralisation of players.
MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 It could start a chain reaction throughout all European top leagues...

Jay Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 I thought they'd all been indicted and next week could all be relegated They have and anybody found cheating deserves everything they get big clubs or not the whole situation stinks the likes of Juventus and Milan should be relegated, banned from Europe and the players who are found guilty of match fixing and cheating should be banned for life!! Italy is so corrupt it's untrue, just look at the last Prime Minister!! I would be very surprised if they did relegate so many clubs but they sure as hell deserve it!!

I just don't get the initial post. How are they becoming so powerful if they've been indicted?
Daggers Posted 22 June 2006 Author Posted 22 June 2006 I reckon Italy is just the tip of the iceberg. I know for a fact that the leagues in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador are iffy ~ and would go out on a limb to say that it probably extends to most of Central and South America. I can't believe that as most African countries are corrupt that their leagues are run prudently either. I suspect the only thing in our favour is that the FA couldn't organise a piss-up let alone a league fixing ... but the big lads in the Premier? They could...
MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Believe it or not, but all football leagues are corrupt in one way or the other, it's just the scale of the scandal that differs.
Deathside Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 I would be very surprised if they did relegate so many clubs but they sure as hell deserve it!! I was told that in recent years 2 or 3 very big Serie A clubs got relegated for financial irregularities - but I don't honestly know if it's true?
Ultra Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 I was told that in recent years 2 or 3 very big Serie A clubs got relegated for financial irregularities - but I don't honestly know if it's true? Fiorentina were sent down 2 divisions but worked their way back up again. It seems they didn't learn their lesson as they're one of the clubs that have been charged. But I don't think we should be too smug about the situation in Italy. Our own recent financial history is hardly squeaky-clean, is it?
Daggers Posted 23 June 2006 Author Posted 23 June 2006 "26 people, not playes, to stand trial" I can not believe this all went on without any players being involved...
