Manwell Pablo Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 As if they we're going to accept that Real Madrid bid 20.5 million for Cannavaro, Zambrotta and Emerson So 20.5 Million for two world cup winners and a Brazilian international! My word Real Madrid are cheeky. unsuprisingly turned down. Serie B they may be, supid they are not. Add another 9.5 million to that figure and then Juvu may talk. If that deal does go through though Real may finally have a world class defense and will challenge Barcelona next season.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 Seems fair to me, 10m for Cannavaro, 10m for Zambrotta and £500,000 for that elderly looking bloke who wandered around aimlessly during Brazil matches at the World Cup.

Agreed, I wouldn't pay much more, Cannavaro may be a class act but he is old and Zambrotta is no spring chicken.
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 July 2006 Author Posted 19 July 2006 I relise all three are fairly old but 20.5 mil IMO is a piss take. Which is refelcted by the fact it got turned down.

I reckon Cannavaro is worth the whole transfer fee alone. Zambrotto is one of the best full backs in the world. I would expect a lot higher transfer fee for them two alone...

But for a 32-year-old and 29-year-old, both world class who have both just won the World Cup (and been two of the best players in the whole tournament) and who are being asked to play in Serie B... they will be lucky to get anything at all. I would be surprised if the players don't sue for breach of contract let alone complain about this bid being turned down.
Guest Gist Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 I thought they would be going cheap because of the relegation, but if not £20.5 Mill is just not enough when you look at the price other players are going for who are nowhere near as good as them.

I would expect a lot higher transfer fee for them two alone... Probabley not seeing as he is 32 going on 33. Id say at least 12 for him 14 for zambrotta and between 5-8 for Emerson who btw (for the information of everyone calling an old man) is only 30.
Benji Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 29 isn't old for a top defender 32, maybe, but Cannavaro is no ordinary defender. I'd say 10 mill for him, 15 maybe for zambrotta and 5 or so for Emerson so 30 would be a decent shout
Jimmy Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 yes but when a player says they want to go then the value drops as the club will be actively looking to sell (in most cases)
Alexikokopops Posted 20 July 2006 Posted 20 July 2006 They ended up with Cannavaro and Emerson for 13 odd million http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/5169176.stm
