Ash Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Well we all know Connolly isnt having the best of starts of his Leicester career, but do you think Levein should carry on playing him , whilst he is not scoring ? Or give another striker a chance ?
Mark Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Keep on playing him but play him with someone with a bit of movement and ability to score. Who i dont know, but we need a change. All the pressure is on him at the moment.
Guest Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 I said this about Akinbyi, but it never happened, but he should be 'rested', take the pressure off of him, then slowly bring him back into the first team fold, perhaps giving him a role behind the front 2 or someting, again to keep the pressure off.
Muz Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 His all around play is good. He just cant score.Suppose thats what strikers are suppose to do. Play him behind Two strikers
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 he's not getting decent service.
Anish Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Drop him. He thinks he's Thierry Henry the way he drifts into midfield to pick up the ball and the way he drifts to the left wing. You're a f***ng striker for god's sake. Stay up front and keep your position. His strike rate is a joke - the fact that Dion Dublin who can't run, jump, or head has scored more goals than Connolly just shows how poor Connolly is doing.
Anish Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 he's not getting decent service. 38406 And how many Leicester games have you seen? You have a go at LCFC fans for judging the Duke (of my arse) on one game, and you do the same with Connolly.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Levein has said that if some players aren't performing then they'll be dropped and someone else will be given ago. If that's the case then Connolly should've been dropped more so then Heath imo. Didn't understand why Heath was dropped ahead of Dabizas at Wigan?!
Durnerz Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Connolly is a striker, a strikers purpose is to score goals, he cost a lot of money, his goals havnt matched that, sorry, drop him and give someone else a go, Lee Morris is a similar player, lets see if he knows where the net is.
Sparky Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 i think heath and dabizas are both struggling but dabizas did play well yesterday
HarisFox Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 In my opinion, Connolly is the best forward we have and fulfills a very important role in providing a link between the midfield and the front man. The problems lie in the reluctance of our midfield to go forwards, preferring to always go sideways (although Nalis does often do this stylishly) we just do not attack space, preferring to give the ball to Connolly's feet. When he gets it with his back to goal like that, what is he supposed to do. I think he needs to play behind a front 2, in a kind of free role. It's not working for him with our current 442 system.
Oli Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 I think we should drop Conners and play Morris upfront he looks good, when he is brought on.
Teeno Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Dc has everything to his game apart from scoring. Give him a rest and hopefully he'll come back with a hunger for goals.

Both strikers have shockingly bad goal records this year, but Connollys movement and overall play is supierer to Scarecrow so... Bye bye Scowcroft
Mark Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Is Scowcroft a striker? 38483 Scowcroft is a nothing. But at the moment he's playing as one.

Bye bye Scowcroft 38474 Yeah, but what matters more, superior movement and overall play,or finding the net? sure, we'll win the league as long as we have agility and decent passing Look at the Goal stat's, Scowcroft 4 Connolly 2, and unlike connolly, scowcroft has had less chances, doesnt matter about the cost, scowcrofts scoring more than Connolly at the moment and still you want to keep Connolly? Shows how much you know.
Wilson Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Scowcroft is a decent player though - MA relied on him a bit too much though.

If you're up front with a striker with no movement its going to be hard on your own. When you're partnered by someone with more intelligence and movement, it can drag defenders out of their positions which can leave openings for Connolly. You play football dont you, surely you know how the game works

jase67 Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 Strikers should score goals and Connolly isnt doing that. He has been unlucky hitting the woodwork many times. Under normal circumstances I would drop him but weve struggled all season and apart from Dion there is no one else at the club with as good a goals record as Connolly. It makes the situation worse that Scowey is his partner. He has never had a good record for scoring goals. You put together an out of form striker with a striker who doesnt score many and it looks all the worse. I would rather find a new partner for Connolly and give him a little longer.
Wilson Posted 21 November 2004 Posted 21 November 2004 We need to give Lee Morris a full game (if he is fit enough).
