Well time will tell. Levein has finally got us playing football properly, so now we have to build on the business end of the pitch. We were all crying out for us to start playing a passing style and that is evident now, what we need to do is step that up a gear and get the ball in to the front two. Our passing looks good, but at times it fizzles out we are almost passing it too much. We need to make more decisive passes and feed Connolly and Scowcroft, they are hungry. It's a shame our two wingers are pretty bad at crossing, another thing we need to work on.

From what i've seen anything is possible in this league, our defence has been shocking over the past year or so and Levein has tightened that up within 4 games. So I have every faith he'll now get Connolly putting the ball in the net, he needs a quiet word with him and tell him to be more focused on scoring goals and getting in the box. The one thing we have missed is Williams passes to Connolly in the box, Gaz might have his doubters so far this season but the one thing he is always looking to do is get the ball to the strikers feet or infront of them to run at goal. He's one of the best passers in this league and we need him back in the team.

I am starting to favour a wingbacks formation more and more now. I've always rated that formation, but after the Cov game I thought 4-4-2 was the way forward for us. But the players we have got I honestly think it's worth having in our armoury.

Wingbacks means we can play 3 centre halves, which is a perfect chance to get Stearman in with Keown and preferably Heath or Dabizas if we are desperate. Wingbacks is sorted Jordan Stweart is a quality left wingback and Canero has played as a right wingback alot at Kilmarnock.

3 central midfielders gives us the chance to play Nalis, Gudjonsson and Williams which I think is the perfect combination. What's good about that is it allows Williams to support the front two and Nalis and Gudjonsson to keep things ticking over. Tiatto will need to be accomodated and he can play in midfield, which means we could release Gemmill and free up some wages. Also we have Stephen Dawson to fill in, who deserves a chance in my opinion.

That leaves us with the strikers, which it's not secret that we are struggling with. But I have complete faith in Connolly as you don't become a bad player over night. He'll come good soon, let's just hope it's with us that he does. Scowcroft is the best from the rest of a bad bunch, but I also think Morris could be pretty tricky upfront. So he'd be my first choice to come on for the front two. I'd get rid of Dublin, Blake and Benjamin if we can as none of them will be here next season anyway, Wright won't ever get the chance as I don't think he has that presence about him. He also has stopped scoring in the reserves, so doesn't deserve a chance.

I feel we should give someone else a go. Dublin won't play again (unless we have injuries to all the strikers) although i think he should. He's better than connolly and Blake anyway ! :D

I hope your joking. Dublin is a embarassment to football these days and Blake hasn't been much better with his lack of passion and commitment. I know Connolly shouldn't be beyond criticism but it doesn't take alot of thought process to realise who the better footballer is.

Connolly's record speaks for itself, so does Dublin's but one is 27 and one is 35. The 35 year old is long gone from the footballer he used to be, Connolly should be reaching his peak now. If we play to his strengths then he'll be lethal, if we don't then we can just expect comments like yours that I don't think are true.

I have always felt Connolly is overrated. The last time I said that I was slagged off, but sadly his lack of goals does not suprise me. :( <_<

What it does miss out there is his spell on loan at a dutch team whilst he was at Feyenoord. He scored 32 goals in 29 matches or something like that, I think he played another season with them aswell and was prolific. His record can't be questioned, his current form can though and it is a concern. But who have we got who's better? no player we have has a better record than Connolly other than Dublin who's shot it. Levein needs to sort Connolly out and the way he's sorted the defence I have faith in Connolly producing the goods.

Neck on the line here, if Connolly starts on saturday he'll score 2 I guarantee it.

It's a very good question this poll, I would stick with him up until the new year and if the goals still aren't coming then swap. He is the only decent striker of his kind and with the right service I'm sure would score goals.

The comment about us playing a wing back formation is spot on, I've thought that for a while. With our wingers misfiring, why not play 3-5-2/ 5-3-2?

I've always favoured the 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation. Since MON, we haven't had a manager who likes this.

It puts a lot of pressure on the wing backs, they have to do a lot of running and them teams success can depend on how well they play.

I think we've got two decent wing back in Stewart and Canero.

Excellent comments, Hoof!

I also think that CL should stick with Connolly. I'm a bit surprised that we're struggling to get the big/small combo working but hopefully it will all click into gear soon ..

As for the wing-back system, I have doubts that Nalis and Williams would fit well together. I would prefer Tiatto and Gudjonsson sweeping up behind Gareth and supplying him with balls so he in turn can act as a playmaker of sorts...

It's all well and good saying that Levein has performed well in sorting out our defence, and that all he needs to do now is work on Connolly and Scowy up front and we'll be sorted. Football doesn't work like that folks. Do you really think that for the last 2 weeks Levein has solely concentrated on defence and not bothered working on our attacking play?

I personally don't think Levein is going to sort out our poor attacking play as quickly as he has sorted out our defence. After all, Hearts are renowned for being excellent defensively but not prolific goalscorers. Unless we start making our midfielders support our strikers better, we will continue to keep misfiring up front.

I'm sure you're right about not only working on the defence :) but you can't compare/sight what happened at Hearts in terms of style of play and success or failure, that's why appointing managers is such a difficult job :w00t: .

E.g Hearts, we were told played the long ball game :w00t: , where as at LCFC CL is definitely not going down or should that be up ;) that route, several players have been quoted as saying CL wants us to play the ball on the deck  .

It's much easier for any team to tighten up the defence :P it's also relatively easy, players permitting to get them scoring, :P the difficulty comes in trying to do both at the same time and hence winning matches, ;) stating the obvious that's what it's all about.

the problem is connolly is having to do a lot of his own donkey work, how often have we seen him miss a chance created by someone else ?
