Nathan Blake, Gareth Wiliams,Dion, Keith Gillespie

I think he is trimmer, and playing better. I would like to see him up-front with scowy, seriously. Connoly left or right wing. I don't know what CL has done to Blake but he is playing a lot better.

Gareth Williams seems to have more confidence aswell now. When he came on he was taking players on, also a smart move by CL to turn Nalis into left-wing. He got some good crosses in.

Dion was a different player in the second half. Good words at half time i think.

Keith Gillespie. No longer lazy, made a tackle, made a defensive header, set up a goal, nice touches, good team work. I don't know what Craig Levein has done. But it has worked.

BUT Connoly is very low on confidence. I think he needs to take a breather. Put him on the bench for a few games, to show he is not indispensible to the side. Scowy and Benji/Blake up-front.

Im fed up with Connolly now, he aint a striker thats for sure.

He's too light weight to be a striker. He can't head well. He's more of teddy sherringam kind of player. I dunno whats rong with him, CL should be able to get him sorted, he's sorted out loads of other players.

Connolly, Is just not having the luck at the minute thats all.

does that mean he hasnt been having the luck since the season started 20 odd games ago. It is more to it then that.

thats just bull, man, and you know it! He's scored all the other places he's been, and this is probably his first club where his scoring record is poor (until now). I'm pretty annoyed by the amount of fans getting on his back. It's not like he's another Akinbiyi, who really IS/WAS worthless... I would give Connolly a break to recharge his batteries and take a bit of pressure off him and then give him another chance...

The fans might be getting on Connolly's back on this messageboard, but they certainly aren't getting on his back in the matches - where it really matters.

I too am very disappointed in Connolly's performances and lack of goals. It is not just a simple matter of luck. Connolly never seems to be in the right place at the right time - and when he does, he either misses the target or miscontrols the ball, as happened today when he would have been clean through (in the first half) if he had executed his supposed talents.

And as for some fans singing 'We've got Dave Connolly, We've got Dave Connolly' - what a joke they that is. I'd rather have somebody like Marlon Harwood or Robbie Blake than Connolly judging by this season's performances.

I think Connolly looks poor to be honest with you.

He has no strength to speak of and for his size it is suprising that he is really slow!

He is not a ocmposed finisher but can strike a good ball, but nothing spectacular and comparing him to Teddy Sherringham is just ridiculous. H e may drop in the hole but he shows non of the skill, craft or vision to be compared to Teddy.

I am having to say that I think he is a pretty poor player and just one that we got wrong. I'll hold my hands up and say I thought he was going to be great for us, but then again I thought the same of Dublin.

Connolly needs a spell on the bench, the longer we play him,the worse it will get, let him recharge his batteries and come back stronger.

...or so we all hope.

Remember when everyone said that once Connolly gets one goal, he'll get loads and go on a scoring spree. That never came to fruition.

Football is full of phrases that are a load of bollocks imo. ;)

I wonder why I've read several game reviews where they were raving about his energetic displays...

I'm still not convinced by the criticism. Pure fact is his previous scoring record. That ultimately shows that he is able at this level and that he's going through a bad patch. I know I'm not in a position to comment on his actual performances as I'm not that privileged that I can watch City's games, but I find it hard to believe the sort of criticism he receives on here...:(

I think most people on here would rather have David Healy instead of Connolly ;)

You have to remember that for the most part of the season, we were expecting the 4ft 8" striker to get on the end of what you describe as hoof ball under the tenureship of Mickey Adams.

Under Craig Levein he has been given a new strike partner with whom it is only natural it will take some time to forge a proper understanding.

No one knows the instructions that he has been given by the coaching staff in terms of using the wide channels. IMO one of his strengths has to be bringing the ball in from wide as opposed to playing down the middle where it is arguable that Scowy would be better suited from an aerial point of view.

I do however agree that a spell on the bench is looming because that just might get the edge back that he is quite obviously missing when he does get a sight on goal. As to who should replace him, neither Trev or Blakey inspire me greatly and Tommy doesn't inspire me at all. I'd probably plump for seeing the newly thinned Blakey given another chance.

I refuse to slag Connolly off, i'm definately not getting personal about him by saying he's a bad footballer. If he was a bade footballer he wouldn't of scored over 100 goals before he came to us (that's including a season on loan at some dutch team where he scored 32 goals) just look at his goals for Wimbledon. 45 in about 62 games if my memory serves me right? Well I refuse to except he's a bad player then.

He is having a right old nightmare here and I don't know what the answer is, it's just shocking that a player of Connolly's ability has been reduced to what he is now. I've watched Connolly a few times before we signed him and my opinion of him was he's a very technical player, great footballing brain and pretty damn good. I've seen in patches that brilliance this season, against Ipswich, West Ham and a few other games but the goals haven't gone in.

He just doesn't get himself in the box anymore, he got more scoring opportunities under Adams. Connolly isn't doing himself any favours in the way he's playing at the minute, but he's not a bad player. He's just having a terrible patch and perhaps he should be dropped but Blake, Benjamin or Dublin aren't the answer. Not sure about Tommy Wright, one thing I will say about Wright is his eagnerness to impress and he does always seem to get goal scoring chances when he plays it's just whether he's capable of finishing them.

Exactly, he's spending far too much time working the left flank, not getting in the box often enough. I know strikers are asked to chase down the channels, but Connolly seems to be doing it for everytime we go forward.
