lookwhaticando Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Coventry have made a £1m bid for Sheffield United striker Ade Akinbiyi. (Daily Mail) BBC Sport | Footy gossip column hahahahaha hahahahaha Oh dear. :pinch:
Collymore Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 BBC Sport | Footy gossip column hahahahaha hahahahaha Oh dear. :pinch: he's a proven striker in this division. Can think of better ways to spend £1 mil though. Freddy Eastwood would be my target. Prob cost a bit more though
Gené and Tonic Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Yeah Derby had a £1m bid rejected for Eastwood
Stevosevic Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...1432565,00.html Sky Blues boss Micky Adams is in the market for a new forward following the sale of Gary McSheffrey to Birmingham for £4million. Adams views Akinbiyi as the man to help his side improve their poor scoring record in the Championship, having failed to find the net in three out of their opening four games. The former Burnley, Stoke, Wolves and Leicester man has fallen down the pecking order at Bramall Lane after the £2.2million arrival of Rob Hulse from Leeds, and despite coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, it is believed Blades boss Neil Warnock is willing to let him go. Akinbiyi has moved for transfer fees totalling £14.5 million in his career so far.
Janx Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 would love him here! shame we could NEVER afford anyone like Akinbiyi... hmmmmm
C-man Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Why are Cov so miffed about McSheffery? I don't think he was worth £1 million, nevermind 4!! He has 64 goals in 8 years of playing football. My maths say that thats an average of 8 goals a season, which is less than de Vries' 9 goals last year. And we all know de Vries aint worth 4 quid nevermind 4 mil
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 would love him here! shame we could NEVER afford anyone like Akinbiyi... Is that REALLY such a great loss?
Janx Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 perhaps I should have put a "whistle" after my post.
lcfc_jme Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 I don't know why people think it's funny that Cov are bidding for Akinbiyi. He was absolutely sh*t for us in the Prem, but when he moved down to this league, he's done nothing but score goals. Doubt people will think it's funny if he scores enough goals to let Cov finish above us in the league
Maybes Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 He will probably socre at least 12+goals a season. Would be a good signing for them. Then adebola and him could bum
Head Honcho Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 BBC Sport | Footy gossip column hahahahaha hahahahaha Oh dear. :pinch: I'd rather him in the squad then Elvis, at least he can score in this division! Wouldn't pay a million for him though, maybe a swap for Elvis
lookwhaticando Posted 21 August 2006 Author Posted 21 August 2006 I'd rather him in the squad then Elvis, at least he can score in this division! Wouldn't pay a million for him though, maybe a swap for Elvis There's the rub. Overpriced. Even at a million. How on earth has he managed to command 14.5m in transfer fees? That's about 14 million too much.
lcfc_jme Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 There's the rub. Overpriced. Even at a million. How on earth has he managed to command 14.5m in transfer fees? That's about 14 million too much. We seemed to waste a lot of money on him though and he was absolute rubbish. Wasn't he our record signing?
lookwhaticando Posted 21 August 2006 Author Posted 21 August 2006 We seemed to waste a lot of money on him though and he was absolute rubbish. Wasn't he our record signing? Still is our record spend. 5.5m if I'm not mistaken.
lcfc_jme Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Still is our record spend. 5.5m if I'm not mistaken. Yeah I thought he might have been. That's more than a third of his total transfer fees paid for by us, and all for about 6 goals if that
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 His goalscoring record during his first season wasn't that bad, even if most of the goals were tap-ins. What caused the most grief was Turnip paying him double the wages that proven quality strikers like Cottee and Collymore were on...
dandannieldanok Posted 22 August 2006 Posted 22 August 2006 Why doesn't MA do what CL did here in Jan and look for a little gem one league below?
lookwhaticando Posted 22 August 2006 Author Posted 22 August 2006 Why doesn't MA do what CL did here in Jan and look for a little gem one league below? What, raid the SPL? Save him the bother, he can have Sylla + MDV for a million
