Broad In England Squad

Absolutely deserved, regardless of the injuries. An economy rate of 4.5 in eight 20/20 games is phenomenal.

When you consider the other fast bowlers in the one-day squad (Gough (short-term stop-gap), Harmison (injured, out of form), Mahmood (abysmal in the last one-day series), Lewis (no long-term choice)), a good series from Broad and he could be in poll position for the World Cup.

The Ashes might be a bit beyond him at the moment, but a standby slot isn't out of the question there either.

He'll be a Surrey player soon, probably. :P:(

Excellent news.. :thumbup::appl:

It's been ages since we had a player in the England squad. I think James Ormond was the last.

About time.

Some credit is due to selectors though, although I imagine it's just to appease those counties who are not part of the 'in crowd' and he won't play, but still... fair play to them, he's in there on merit.

Well done.

What's this about Surrey?

What's this about Surrey?

Nothing at all - don't panic!

Just an observation that everytime a player gets good for us in recent years, he leaves...

Ormond - Surrey

Sutcliffe - Lancs

Mullally - Hants

Habib - Essex

Dakin - Essex

Nixon - Kent

Stevens - Kent

Smith - Worcs

Although, to be honest, with the exception of Ben Smith, who remains a fine county player and Paul Nixon, none of them ever went on to do much.

Stevens and Sutcliffe have both been pretty decent for their counties to be fair. Mullally was good for a while at Hants before he got too old.
