When you consider the other fast bowlers in the one-day squad (Gough (short-term stop-gap), Harmison (injured, out of form), Mahmood (abysmal in the last one-day series), Lewis (no long-term choice)), a good series from Broad and he could be in poll position for the World Cup. The Ashes might be a bit beyond him at the moment, but a standby slot isn't out of the question there either. He'll be a Surrey player soon, probably.

Just an observation that everytime a player gets good for us in recent years, he leaves... Ormond - Surrey Sutcliffe - Lancs Mullally - Hants Habib - Essex Dakin - Essex Nixon - Kent Stevens - Kent Smith - Worcs Although, to be honest, with the exception of Ben Smith, who remains a fine county player and Paul Nixon, none of them ever went on to do much.

martyn Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Stevens and Sutcliffe have both been pretty decent for their counties to be fair. Mullally was good for a while at Hants before he got too old.
