Ric Flair Posted 6 December 2004 Author Posted 6 December 2004 Good god, isn't time such a great healer. Ade Akinbiyi was and still is a truely awful football. To even say if we'd only paid £500,000 for him we wouldn't of got on his back so much is aload of bollocks. He was awful and arrogant and that's why the fans hated him. Connolly might not be scoring but it's obvious when he gets the ball he's an intelligent football, Ade used to nutmeg himself. Akinbiyi is on par with Benjamin and we had them both, whether we'd paid £3, £500,000 or £50,000,000 he'd still be shit and we'd all agree. I cannot believe people think Akinbiyi is better than Connolly, you say that Akinbiyi got 10 goals in the premiership but if you want to fish around at records then look how many goals Connolly got for previous teams. He scored 45 goals in 63 games at Wimbledon, scored about 32 goals in 29 games for some Dutch team he went on loan to whilst at Feyenoord, 15 goals in 25-30 games for Watford, 8 goals in 15 for Wolves, 10 goals in 35-40 games for West Ham. Now that isn't bad bruv.

It's not 'cause we paid £5mil for him, it's 'cause Peter T***** kept starting him no matter what! Look at good ol' Junior.. he didn't cost us much, and didn't play much, but when he did, he was slagged off too wasn't he?
Scow Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 That's right, Shen. Junior Lewis was/is a shocking player. Division 2 standard at best along with Ade Akinbiyi, Trevor Benjamin and Lee Marshall. I cringe at the thought when I think back to us playing Akinbiyi and Benjamin upfront in the Premiership. A shocking combination.
Anish Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 By far and away the worst strikeforce that has ever graced the Premiership.
Ash Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 By far and away the worst strikeforce that has ever graced the Premiership. 43991[/snapback] EVER !
