I don't think we should have finished 2nd either, but that's another matter... I never expected an intelligent response from you anyway. How is the Ricoh these days? I agree, I stopped going after three of four games of the promotion year, partly because I went to uni, but I never had the urge to come back at the weekend to witness the hoofball. Micky Adams was no great manager, all he did was get a team with Premier League quality in near enough every part of the field promoted.

Occasionally, just occasionally, I come across people like you in the clinic where I work. Quite often they have an elderly relative or a small child in tow. Only last week a (supposedly) intelligent woman in her '30's came in with her 70 year old father who had cirrhosis of the liver. She was concerned that, 'he spent too much time moping in the house instead of going down to the pub with his mates.' And a few months ago a mother came in with her young son who had a seemingly obvious aspergers/autistic spectrum disorder wondering why he had not performed well in his SAT's tests at school. Believe me, the desire to 'shake some sense' into these people is sometimes overwhelming. Until you realise: a) they have very low emotional intelligence OR b) they have some kind of personality disorder OR c) they are in denial OR d) they bear a grudge. The point that I am trying to make is that reasoning with some types of people is a complete waste of time.

I can remember being very disillusioned during the promotion season, and had voiced my concerns at the time. Admittedly I was in the minority, but I think the fans were riding on the back of wins rather than the football itself. I also remember us having the strongest playing squad in the division, I also remember the financial implications for the players if we weren't promoted (and it was voluntary, so they knew what they were capable of, don't anyone tell me they did it for the love of the club), and I also remember that the final weeks before we were promoted were very tense, as Sheff Utd started to catch us up (dropping points, hmmmm). I also don't see why we should still be harping on about the ifs and buts of a manager who left almost 2 years ago. He's gone, get over it. We should be focusing on the present situation, and turning that around with the current incumbent. I remeber going to games during that season and one or two people voicing those same opinions that while it was great winning games but once we were promoted it was whole different matter.
