Thracian Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 No, you're not alone there. I'm just trying to keep my head down a bit so that those 'holier-than-I' don't have an excuse to get on their high horses and call me a moaner. Don't worry - it'll be all white! Sorry. Only joking.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 He seems a bit of a hcaracter too - something the team needs. But are you still going to run it when he drops a brick?. He is a bit of a joker. Used to be the youngster (still is) with Walker and Pressman at one point and used to have to make himself be heard in training like the youngest child in a family. Used to get involved in the games that the other two played after training, cracked jokes etc. Never seemed like an outsider despite being much younger. It's his vocal prescence on the pitch that is more important. Used to talk his back four through Academy matches and I think he was captain for a while. He's likely to "drop a brick", he almost did at times yesterday when coming for crosses and his challenge that got him his booking, but as long as he learns from his mistakes then I don't see it as too much of a problem. If he continues to repeat mistakes like Douglas has done then I will question whether he's improving or has he reached his full potential.

One thing that especially impressed me against Colchester was his concentration. Whenever I looked and wherever the ball was he appeared to be focused. I don't know any players, let alone any goalkeepers who don't make mistakes. At least it's perfectly clear he can do some good things and you don't get the feeling of impending calamity when he's around. I always had that with both Douglas and Henderson although, to be fair, which I'm sure Babylon will appreciate, those keepers did okay in the first team if we forget about Henderson's distribution and Douglas's occasional brainstorms. Mind you they both had sound protection.

When Douglas was charging off his line bringing Championship strikers to their knees on a weekly basis and dropping crosses regularly at the age of 30+ you begin to feel things are likely to get worse for him not better. Logan has got time to work on his game and I can excuse mistakes he makes as long as they don't become repetitive because then you have to question whether he is working on his game or if he's standing still. Logan is as good if not a better shot stopper than Rab and Hendo despite this being viewed by many as those two's strength. His kicking is stronger than the other two and is better when used wisely but I still think he can claim crosses better amongst other things. People will excuse odd mistakes from Logan but, for example, if he keeps coming of his line and it costs us on a few occasions people will question him. The best place for him to learn is by playing though and that's why I think he should be allowed a decent run in the first team even if he makes mistakes.

I agree and hope he offers an example to other youngsters breaking through that it's important to keep learning and to keep working on weaknesses. Shilton was awesome in that respect.
Ric Flair Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Have you read the report in today's Times?? Let's just say it implies that premiership clubs are taking notice of Logan!!!!
Daggers Posted 2 October 2006 Author Posted 2 October 2006 Have you read the report in today's Times?? Let's just say it implies that premiership clubs are taking notice of Logan!!!! Yea ~ but I can't help but feel it was more blatant plugging on RK's part. Shouting "Don't look at him, he's really good" while working out what to do with the cash. I mean, how can a lad with a couple of games under his belt suddenly be attracting top clubs? If you're Logan this morning, it'd have made him pretty happy over breakfast
andyh1884 Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Early in the season and towards the end of last season I used to regularly see Logan's run up Soar Valley Way of a morning on my way to work. The extra training & committment seems to have paid off for him
