Connolly was poor most of the game as was Nalis. IMO those substitutions got us something from the game.

At the end of the day he's a striker and he isn't scoring enough, he is paid to score goals and on Friday he could have scored a lot more than what he did.

He could have, but at least he's there having shots at goal as well as creating them himself. No other striker at the club is able to do that. It has a positive effect on the team, anyone with football knowledge should be able to see that, whether at the game or not.

It's a team game, we are a better team with him in it and we get better results.

We quite obviously missed him vs Reading, we have no one else of his ability in our squad.

Yes connelly missed a few chances. They all seem easy when your sat in the stands. Yes he's paid to score. His work rate leaves nothing to be desired, having to create the chances himself. Scowcrofts missed header was an easier chance than Connelly's shot in the 1st minute, and he,s paid twice as much as Connelly. Scowcroft's work rate is nowhere near as much as Connelly's. Why hasn't Scowcroft learnt to take the ball down and turn an shoot, he always has his back to goal when he gets it. As for him being 6ft plus, and 14 stone, he gets pushed off the ball to easy, and ends up on the floor. (Emil Heskey ring any bells)? Nalis would be better off standing on the 18 yard box line on corners, and anticipating the ball to come out, like Steven Gerrard does.The midfield need to run on and help the forwards more than they do. I say play Scowcroft up front on his own with Connelly just behind, or put Morris in the middle and let him run at defenders with his pace. And why the hell doesn't any player want to take a shot when given the ball just outside the box, instead of trying to pass all the time. You cannot walk it in the net all the time.

Once connolly went the other way in the box, he opened up a gap that left the goal gaping, thats practically an open goal,and he still missed it, scowcrofts header was a reaction,sometimes they go in,sometimes they dont. Connolly had 3 or 4 good chances on friday and took one of them,not good enough.

Going back to the original point, good report Teeno.

I do have to agree with the view that Connolly played well - we are nowhere near the same team without him, despite his wastefulness in front of goal.

None of our other strikers could perform any better than Connolly imo.
