just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this, after seeing that go in

and not be given should spurs get the points

Heard it on the radio - sounds like Spurs were cheated out of a goal when Pedro Mendes 'scored' from the halfway line after his shot was fumbled over the line by Roy Carroll. I don't think the ref or his assistant saw it but it was blatent to everyone else.

Look at this. Bloody disgraceful.

thanks mon i was just about to post that as per norm im late for work but just had to stay and watch after the few crazy seconds

what should happen now do you think?.........

give spurs all 3 points

I don't think the FA have the guts to give the 3 points to Spurs, but if justice is to be done then that should happen.

This incident was in the final few mins of the game and I don't think Utd would have got back into it if the goal had stood.

I think the FA will take the easy way out and fine/suspend/relegate BOTH the ref and his pathetic assistant.

Are they allowed to do that though, the Fa?

Well the FA infamously docked Middlesbrough 4 points in their relegation season for not turning up to a game, so I can't see why they can't award Spurs 3 points for the disallowed goal.

And the FA makes the rules of the game in England, so I'm sure they could do something to rectify this injustice.

you're forgetting something

there has been many disallowed goals in the past that have been goals but have never been given point/s for it

so whats so special about this one?

51930[/snapback]

Because the ones in the past were not as clear cut or blatent as this one.

Everyone in the stadium could see that it was a goal, even Alex Ferguson admitted it! How the two officials couldn't see it themselves was a joke, it was soo far over the line there was no dispute at all.

Check out The Sun's website. By the time Carroll gets down and dirty to scoop it out - the ball's practically touching the net. Shocking, simply shocking.

Now if the roles had been reversed, would you not have seen that little flag being waved?

That's why we hate Man U...

Shit happens, we should know!!

Until they introduce a 'video ref', mistakes like this will happen. I know it's easy to say it's Manure cheating again, but how many times have we had perfectly good goals disallowed, perfectly good goals against us disallowed (phew!), goals stand that should have been disallowed.......the list goes on.

More of a reader than a poster, but I got sent this and thought it was too quality to resist.

For those of you who missed it last night.

Subject: The view from Alex Ferguson's dug out

An FA spokesman after the game absolved the linesman of any

responsibility for the apparently mistaken decision not to award a goal

to Spurs after a shot from the halfway line crossed the goal line by at

least a meter.

"The shot came in from an unusual distance and as such caught the

linesman out of position forcing him race back towards the goal as the

play developed", explained the spokesman, "As he ran, the United scarf

he was wearing under his shirt came loose and fluttered up into his face

obscuring his view and preventing him from making the call. It was just

one of those things."

In response to further questions from the Press the spokesman explained

"If they don't already have a United tattoo most officials on game day

try to wear a scarf or a relica shirt under their regulation kit to show

their support for the worlds greatest club. The linesman in this case

had chosen to wear a United scarf, a common choice that is in keeping

with FA guidelines. The root cause of the problem lies not with the

linesman but with the players and management of Tottenham Hotspur

Football Club who broke one the most important unwritten rules of the

English FA: They placed a shot on target at Old Trafford. Martin Jol is

new to this country and perhaps he s not yet familiar with some of our

finer traditions. If he doesn't yet understand that for the greater good

of the game visiting teams, by tradition, are not expected to try to

score at Old Trafford then our officials are in a position to help Mr

Jol make that cultural adjustment."

Chuckling to himself the FA spokesman added "The goal had to be

disallowed to avoid us descending down a slippery slope that would be

bad for the national game. It's a fine line the officials have to walk.

If they award a goal this week, next week someone might expect to get a

penalty or demand that Van Nistleroy be booked for diving. Can you

imagine? That would just never do. No no no. Shocking, just the thought

of it."

lol

Enjoy.
