Rincewind Posted 4 January 2007 Author Posted 4 January 2007 Color of magic was one of his earlier ones, the first I think in the series so all the characters were not known. The ones with Death are great. TP said in an interview that I read on the forum I visit that bereaved people have written to him to say how comforted they were that he portrays Death as a nice and friendly character. TP says the reason for that is that Death may be the last friendly face you see.

I say this as they are the first 2 books, and while it isn't essential, it does help understand later stories. I must agree though that Mort is a cracker.
