dan_84 Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 i cant make my mind up on who the better goalkeeper is, out of Walker and taylor, and im wondering now walker is seemingly close to fitness, who CL's number 1 will be. Walker seems to be an excellent all round keeper with very few faults, the only thing i can possibly think of is, he is sometimes caught out of postion on crosses and sometimes flaps a little, although this is very rare. Taylor's main problem seems to be his kicking when the ball is moving, but still he is an excellent goalkeeper. Im going to stick my neck out now and say if Taylor should be number 1. IF we plan to sign him permanent. if not play Walker and hope he signs a new contract on greatly reduced wages.
Matt Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 I can't really vote because you don't just get into the team you earn it. At the moment, Stuart Taylor is in goal because Logan is abit young and to be fair he doesn't look the best, Pressman well lets not talk about him and Walkers injured. If Walker does recover from injury and does train well and perform well then he should be number 1. But this is Leicester problem at the moment, Not much competition for places and some players are too big for there boots and think they can just walk into the squad!
Matt Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 Although according to the OS; http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsD...~609940,00.html
Jonesy_rules Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 here's how i see it: Logan, too young, but could be good for the future, however i think maybe he should get a game against Blackpool! Pressman: Excellent at kicking, best kicker we have in goal, however sometimes to slow to get down Taylor; Very indesisive on coming out to collect the ball, poorest kicker out of the four, but could at getting down. Walker: Injury prone, not the greatest kicker, but excellent stopper! However, we should be hoping that our keeper doesn't have much to do in future months, due to the attack scoring goals and putting pressure on the opposing team, midfield winning the ball and playing it around, and defence keeping it very tight!
dan_84 Posted 7 January 2005 Author Posted 7 January 2005 Walker: Injury prone, not the greatest kicker, but excellent stopper! Injury prone, this is the only serious injury I can remember him having since he has been at the club. Wots this his 3rd or 4th season. Not bad if you ask me.... it could be a lot worse we could have Chris Kirkland or Nicky Weaver. Now they are what you call injury prone
Louise Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 In my opinion, Walker is certainly the better 'keeper of the four. However it's probably quite likely that if he's back to fitness now he'll be sold to a Prem club as Levein hasn't exactly had a chance to see him play and wants younger players anyway.

Arsenal have asked us not to play Taylor tomorrow, and if Walker doesn't figure as expected, could we assume he's going?

Or Levein could play him to say goodbye to the fans. Not sure being cup-tied would really bother many Prem teams that much. If Scowy really isn't going we're going to have to make some money from somewhere.

Scow Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 I doubt will Walker will figure tomorrow, maybe that's me being cynical. To answer the question though - I believe Walker is the better out of the 4, and by some distance. Taylor has the potential to become a very decent keeper, but his kicking is shocking, and that may hamper him, unless he works on it. What's this about Walker's kicking being poor? He gets more distance than Pressman and Taylor as he strikes the ball with better technique.

I suspect he wishes he was in the premier. Can't say I rate him so that makes my opinions natuarally negative.

Nevertheless, when he was kicking centrally down field, it was usually spot on.

Walker's goal kicks ae very accurate most times and get more distance than all the others. Walker has proved to be an excellent goalkeeper for us over the years and although Taylor is good, he needs to prove himself over a longer period of time before I say he's better than Walker.
Oli Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 Taylor everytime. Quality keeper who can always improve his kicking and a great shot stopper, probably the best shot stopper we have.
Cobbo Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 Walker is the best keeper we have, by a long way. Commands his area a lot better than Taylor, shot stopping is on a par and his kicking is actually bloody brilliant. Pace, distance and accuracy, just what the strikers will want, rather than high and loopy kicks.
Oli Posted 8 January 2005 Posted 8 January 2005 Why is everyone saying Walkers kicking is brilliant? Last season he was screwing them off to the sides at basically every back pass. He does do some decent ones, but I am sure Taylor will learn how to. One minute your saying Taylor should get in the Arsenal team, there would be no chance of Walker getting in it. Walker will be gone in the summer anyway.

Oli Posted 8 January 2005 Posted 8 January 2005 I was saying that he was staying, I was saying that he was a better goalkeeper. Walker will be gone in the summer as well. So that must mean we should vote for Logan does it because Walkers contract is up. Thats what your trying to say.
Anish Posted 8 January 2005 Posted 8 January 2005 So why did you even mention that Walker will be gone in the summer - that is irrelevant to the argument about who is the better goalkeeper.
