Geo V Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 A reasonably successful team that cost nothing, surely this can't be a bad thing can it? Or would it be better to be like Newcastle, spending £illions winning nothing? Manadaric is better known for allowing his manager to get players in for small fees and big wages, usually older players which is good for this division and for the fact that we have shite loads of youngsters surely? If he leaves us in a position of the premierships top end and the ability to sign players for £10m or attract the likes of oldies like David James and Kanu, I`d bite his hand off!!!!!!!!!
C-man Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I think he's a bit more high profile than us. I think he's a bit shit.
The Stig Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I think he's a bit shit. I agree, just because someone is good in one country doesn't mean he'll be good in another, isnt that right Mr Levien. Plus he'd never come anyway
eaststandtom Posted 5 January 2007 Author Posted 5 January 2007 Your using really poor examples - for a starter Blackburn are a establish Premier League side who like Lyon are in Europe, so if I look where they are now I'd say they doing fairly well. Second Blackburn is a small town in Lancashire, the smallest city/town currently in the Prem league if im not mistaken. Lyon is the third biggest city in France, the football club has always had a good following and has always been in the mix in Europe. All this is besides the point however, you seem to be another person who thinks Milans going to make us the richest team in this league, we're then going to walk to promotion inside 5 years with a fanstastic manager that we're paying loads of money for, and a squad full of fantastic players that we're playing loads for. It's not going to happen, we'll have enough money to compete we wont be rich!!! think you are taking the intitial point a bit seriously. i though it might make an interesting talking point for a football forum. blackburn are an established premier league side and lyon are established in europe but before that they were average teams. in fact blackburn were like rotherham. there had to be a starting point for both of those teams. now the original point was that leicester, with no debts, potenial large fanbase and potential to become established in the premiership could attract a guy like le guen personally, i do think, sorry know, that such an appointment will not happen. however, what i do know is that mandaric will want to get this club in the premiership and will therefore be thinking of an experienced manager at that level who can get the club to that level and he will be ruthless until he get the correct appointment. (7-8 managers at pompey in 7 years) mandaric has the clout to get in guys whether it be managers or players with a 'name' or 'ability' so it wouldnt surprise me if a foreign manager is in his mindset. what i do appreciate though, despite your judgement, is that milan will work things economically as possible at first putting money into the club for players and wages, so we can compete in the championship first and foremost, but not ridiculously excessive amounts because, as we all know, that would be foolish.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Yeah the PSG thing seems to be a done deal and he used to play for them a few years back. I dont think we need a manager who doesnt know too much about the English game at this level or one that will use us as a stepping stone. BTW great shout on McLeish BTW. Who is available these days????... Big Ron (no we have black players) Alex McLeish (yes, he`ll do) Iain Dowie (No, because he signs donkeys like Traore and is too freaku having a brother that is a spit of him in the backround. It would confuse us all ) Graeme Souness (He would be good as he`ll have something to prove) Trevor Francis (Dear god no) Steve Walsh (stop the golfing holidays and come to your spiritual home and bring Claridge along as coach) Shane Warne (g`day maaaate) Paul Ince (another possible stepping stone manager. at his peace today about he wants to manage Inter one day the daft sod) Dennis Wise (would be my favourite as I have always wanted to get within punching distance of the little gimp. Two days and he can then leave with a beating) The 3 La Manga hookers (My only worry with this trio is that they are quick in getting things down) Hasn't he already proven something, namely that he's a f**king awful manager? Given Saddam Hussein's human rights record, there was a reason why he was hanged - not put in charge of Amnesty International.
Geo V Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Hasn't he already proven something, namely that he's a f**king awful manager? Given Saddam Hussein's human rights record, there was a reason why he was hanged - not put in charge of Amnesty International. I`m not saying that he is my first choice but there is no doubting the fact that he is a winner, both as a player and a manager. He has won something at most clubs despite having some real stinkers inbetween. Also, if he did become Leicester manager, I would insist on him growing a tash again as historically his succesful years as a manager had him sporting facial hair! lildave3 Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Don't want Le Guen, definately don't want Graeme Souness.
lcfc_jme Posted 6 January 2007 Posted 6 January 2007 No chance Le Guen is going to be our next manager. Rumour has it he has been lined up by PSG to go and take over there. SSN said so
Jay Posted 6 January 2007 Posted 6 January 2007 He is going to PSG apparantly. Probably hasnt even heard of Leicester, not that I would want him anyway. Whats Alex McLeish up to these days ?? did a 100% better job than Le Guen at Rangers The same Alex Mcleish that Milan was desperate to take to Pompey just before Harry returned but Rangers wouldn't let him go!!! read into that what you will but he's a VERY strong candidate imo
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 6 January 2007 Posted 6 January 2007 Wouldn't mind Le Guen too much, but it won't happen. Glad to see people wising up to Dowie - he's not that good and would be just like getting another RK, well i'd prefer RK.
DB11 Posted 6 January 2007 Posted 6 January 2007 Iain Dowie turned down a contract offer from Hull. I think he's coming down when Milan is in charge
Brummie-FOX Posted 6 January 2007 Posted 6 January 2007 How can you say Lyon are a small club? There one of the best teams IN THE WORLD atm. They're beating the likes of Real Madrid, etc. If Lyon are small, I hate to think what we are.
