goalscoring midfielder Jamie Scowcroft

Maybe we should put him back into midfield then because there is no way he' a goalscoring striker

I wouldn't read too much in to that, the foxes trust have already stated that players will need to be sold to fund De Vries and Maybury let alone more new players. Scowcroft is one of the only players who we could get money for and with his huge wages I think it makes sense to get rid of him. I think he's the most likely player to leave and quite rightly so, he will be on the bench otherwise as MDV and Connolly wll be first choice strikers.

I will be very surprised if Scowy leaves. Everyone seems to think he is leaving and that we're going to get nearly half a million for him, but it is highly unlikely.

From the player's point of view, it would be sheer stupidity on his part to move to a new club and miss out on those lucrative wages he is earning at Leicester. No club, premiership or not will match them (especially not Bolton or Norwich). From the reported interest in him, he knows that come the summer when his contract expires, there will be a few clubs sniffing about willing to give him a contract, so it is not really a gamble for him to see out his contract and look for a new club. His agent could already start looking and sign a pre-contract with a new club.

Therefore, the only way we would be able to get rid of Scowy is to part pay him off (similar to our deal with Northampton Town and Trevor Benjamin). We could pay part of his wages to shift some of his wages off our wage bill. If this was to happen, it would be highly unlikely for us to get a large transfer sum, because any club wanting to buy him would hold all the cards. Thus a fee similar to the amount we paid hearts for de Vries & Maybury would be more likely, for a player who would be available for free in a few months time.

Basically, I think we're being highly optimistic if we think we will be rid of the rubbish that is Scowcroft. And yes, I will hold my hands up. I really thought he'd excel when pushed upfront alongside Connolly. That's what makes it all the more disappointing, when you consider the lack of effort he currently puts in.

Few points as you say no-one wants to pay his current wages, but then again come the summer he will never earn that amount again, Next I don't think clubs like Bolton or Norwich would be put off by 1/2 mill, it is as you say the wages that would be a problem. But if the offered him a new 3 year contract on say £10k and we paid him his £5-£8k (whaterver he's on) difference until the end of his current contract, he would be happy, the buying club would be happy and we would be saving approx £10 grand a week. That would pay for 2 young up and coming players in this league.

Only optimistic speculation of course,

A fair point there, but if Norwich or Bolton put a bid in for him I think the lure of premiership football will take him there even if he misses out on 6 months of £10-15,000 a week. He'll probably want to sort a club out before the summer so I suppose a pre-contract deal could be ideal for him, but some clubs will want him before the summer like Norwich who are desperate for firepower upfront. I think Norwich are the only team silly enough to pay cash for Scowy, so don't be surprised if we get anywhere up to £500,000 for him. Praise the lord if we do as we could get two or three more players in for that and his wages saved.

If we get half a million for him, It will be the best piece of business I have seen in football, since we got 11 million for heskey (Heskey, what a legend, has done so much for this club - will always be a legend for his services to city).

It all hinges on how stupid Norwich are.

Uneasy moments?!?! That's more spin than Alistair Campbell!

The truth is he has been atrocious for weeks now and has been ineffective up front ever since LEvein took over. We could easily afford to get rid of him and it's not like he's done anything of note at LCFC to be a major loss.
