Glad to see Barry back, I think. Bit early for Hargreaves, isn't it? Downing? Suppose we don't have that many options on the left... Not keen on Defoe being in the squad, I think he's quite pants. Jenas is shit and should never be included. Good to see Barton earn a call-up, can't see him playing though. We'll stick with the status quo - a CM being wasted on the right, a useless CM retaining his place etc etc. Left back... Bridge or Barry now that Cole's out?
dandannieldanok Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Is this just for the Spain friendly, if it is why pick such a huge squad?
RowlattsFox Posted 2 February 2007 Author Posted 2 February 2007 Is this just for the Spain friendly, if it is why pick such a huge squad? huge squad but still only 4 strikers. to be fair though i cant seem to think of any other strikers that could get called up
lookwhaticando Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 huge squad but still only 4 strikers. to be fair though i cant seem to think of any other strikers that could get called up James Beattie! Louis Dodds?
Leicester Lass Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Phil Neville....Please no Stewart Downing.... Please no
isaidno Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Stewart Downing.... Please no Downing has been playing well lately.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Downing has been playing well lately. Has never recaptured his club form for England in previous matches though.
Leicester Lass Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Downing has been playing well lately. Agreed. But if he's England quality then so is Josh Low.
Wils Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Agreed. But if he's England quality then so is Josh Low. Downing isnt that Bad. Be fair.
Simi Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Stewart Downing.... Please no When Cole is fit he will be first choice I hope, Downing has been playing well lately. True. But as has been said earlier in the thread he has never played well for England. Always looks lost when he plays for England I think. McLaren will probably keep picking him because of the Boro connection.

That's why it's possibly best to get him playing in these friendly matches so he gets the chance to improve when there is nothing to lose.
Leonisco Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Very happy with Barton, Barry and Dyer getting call-ups, that's pretty much exactly what I wanted. But why the fook does he keep picking Jenas over Kevin Nolan. Kev's twice the player Jenas will ever be. Also a shame Carson has again been overlooked, but I suppose we've got plenty of goalkeepers and there's not much point in taking 4 really.
Joe. Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Downing isnt that Bad. Be fair. Yes he is for England. When he plays for them he is a total joke. To be fair though at club level, he is playing well at the moment.
Joe. Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Ashley Young should be there Whats the point if he's not going to play? He's still only young and is in the under-21 squad preparing for the Championships. There's no point of him being in the squad just yet.

Jay Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 excellent choice as far as I am concerned would love to see 2 players in the middle like Barton and Hargreaves both wanting to play for the shirt and the nation shame that overpaid Chelsea rent boy is still in the squad!!!
Lord Nibblington Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Good to see Barton in the squad, but I can't see him actually getting a fair chance. Ho hum.

dandannieldanok Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Im surprised and disappointed about the goalkeeper selections. I would rather have James and Carson instead of Foster and Kirkland. Kirkland was shite against Reading.
Joe. Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Robinson overrated. David James England's number one. Get him in
