The Reverend Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Anybody know anything about them? Im thinking of getting one as i need more room for music, games etc... So any general useful information or anything about models, specs, price etc would be good thanks
Leicfox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah, don't get a freecom. I've had 2 and both became faulty with code 10 errors. Ebay is your best bet imo, you can get 400gb one on there for about £90. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/400GB-Hitachi-Extern...1QQcmdZViewItem
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 I've got a MyBook or something. £70ish from Amazon, 250GB. Seems to be pretty good but I did naff all research before I bought it.

Looked at that one earlier seems a good price but i dont know the 'going rate' really
Leicfox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 No it aint, not when you can get a 400gb one for £90 surely.

Would have been silly spending more as suggested above. Depends what you need.
Rincewind Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Bloke who came to look at my PC totay mentioned them. He said they were good for backing up stuff. We swapped dongles as mine did not seem compatable with my phone. I need to get a miniture memory card now. He did mention the price of external drives but I forgot but he normally gets things cheaper than going throug the normal channels.

Yeah I think the problem is usually prices, as external hard drives are more expensive... this is why I haven't got one recently.
hairy Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 Yeah, don't get a freecom. I've had 2 and both became faulty with code 10 errors. I have had several at work and three at home and never had a problem with Freecom drives. Best thing about them is they are just normal hard drives in side the case so if you need more space you just change the drive from say 80 to 250. Easy.
The People's Hero Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 I've got a good Seagate for personal and business use. Quick, compact and push-button backup. All under £100. Not too shabby at all mate.
