City Lad Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Like any club, when you fall out of the Premiership a lot of money is needed to get back. After their first year back in the Championship in 2004, Leicester City have struggled. They had a go in that first year and they didn't quite make it and now they are having to work their way back slowly and surely. I think Rob Kelly has done a decent job under the circumstances as he has had not a lot of money to spend. I was fully aware that Milan Manadaric was out there talking to one or two people but he has decided to stick with the present regime and give them an opportunity which is probably the right and fair thing to do otherwise if things didn't work out you would be left thinking that it would have been better to give Rob Kelly a chance. Well Rob has got first go at it and if he gets more funds, I know it is difficult for him as the transfer window has closed, but if he shows that he is capable then he might be in charge next season. There is foundation in the links with Iain Dowie, Milan Mandaric has admitted that himself. He has been honest and said that he has spoken to people but at this moment Rob is going to get an opportunity which is well done to him. Milan Mandaric has been good for football, I don't care what problems he had with Harry Redknapp, the fact is that Portsmouth are where they are today because of Milan Mandaric and Harry Redknapp. If he leads Leicester to the same position then they will be delighted. Rob Kelly knows the score. When a new chairman comes in he likes to bring in his own people - before deciding to buy Leicester, Milan probably didn't know too much about Rob Kelly. But people will be telling him that Rob is no mug and he can do a job. He may not be the biggest name in the world. I think if Milan sees progress between now and the end of the season then Rob will get the chance to spend the money that's going to be used to try and get them into the Premiership. I think that three years is more than a realistic target for Milan to get the Foxes up. I think Milan Mandaric will want to get to the Premiership in 12 months! They have a chance now like anybody else who can afford to spend money in that division. Derby and Birmingham realised that in January when they went out and spent big money. West Brom didn't spend but they had all the players that everybody wanted so they didn't need to. If Leicester go for it, without being silly, then they have got a chance and it must be good to be a Leicester supporter right now knowing that they are stable. They will thank the people who have stabilised the club and they can look forward to the future. The squad doesn't necessarily need an overhaul - they have got players that Premiership clubs want - they sold Gareth Williams recently to Watford. Five or six new faces added to the squad will be enough. They are strong at the back but they could probably do with some more goals - Iain Hume has done okay but he needs some help. Their form has been up and down all season but when they need a result they go and get one like they did last weekend at Ipswich. I think Leicester have got enough to keep away from the relegation dogfight but they have a big game at the weekend against Coventry where both sides will probably be happy for a point. LINK
Leonisco Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 <The bleeding obvious> LINK Wish I could have his job - god knows how much he gets paid a year just to state the bleeding obvious.
l444ry Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Wish I could have his job - god knows how much he gets paid a year just to state the bleeding obvious. Only "bleeding obvious" to Leicester fans, Leonisco. It should be bleeding obvious that he is writing for a far wider audience than that!!!
Thracian Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Wish I could have his job - god knows how much he gets paid a year just to state the bleeding obvious. My thought exactly. I would ask if there is one single line of original thought, information, analysis, argument in the whole boring diatribe and any self-respecting City fan wouldn't be aware of?.
Matt Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Surprised he ain't accusing us of unsettling other clubs, Portsmouth - For looking at a few of there players, Portsmouth - For "stealing" there owner (Even though he had left anyway) or Coventry for talking to there manager to be Iain Dowie. I wouldn't put it past Kamara to accuse us of some of the examples I have listed. willy puller!!

I'll never forget the shit he said about our club during our search for a new manager. And yes... I'd love his job. I could have written that. Would have probably taken me less time, too.
