Finnegan Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Anybody own either or, and if so what do you think? I've heard bits and bobs of both but never much with the exception of the obvious (Encore vs. Numb.) I was cynical about Collision Course at first, thought it was mainly just a bit marketing gimic and likely to be about as musically sound as the Spice Girls. But I was pleasantly surprised, and it's made me want to try and get hold of the Grey Album. Amazon, Play and the like don't seem to think it exists - am I to take it it's more of a bootleg and less of an official release? I thought Danger Mouse had it released by a proper label?
Deathside Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 The Grey Album / Collision Course., Jay-Z Mashups / Collaborations Think I'll stick to The Black Album / Crash Course - the Damned / UK Subs (respectively) thanks
Alexikokopops Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I have a copy of the Grey Album on my computer, it's pretty sweeeeeeet. You can't get a proper copy of it anymore because EMI (who own the copyrights to the Beatles stuff) went a bit ape shit about the whole thing when it was first released in limited numbers and DJ Danger Mouse had to cease distribution. They used to go for stupid money on eBay.
hairy Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I have the grey album. I am sure Danger Mouse put it on the net for free download and was only available in vinyl. Do a google and it might still be out there somewhere. Second hit on google http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html You will need a bit torrent client to get it. One I do like is American Edit. Which again was another free download. Green Day tried to stop it but the more they tried the more it speard.
Jordan Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I honestly think "The Grey Album" is the most overrated mash-up. Good idea, awful beats.
Nath. Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Its a good collaboration... Numb/Encore is just a classic track! Dirt off your shoulder/ Lying to you is also a decent track But it all depends on what typre of music you like, becuas eif you dont like rock, then the album will sound shit to you!
