Matt Posted 24 February 2007 Posted 24 February 2007 Peter Crouch suffered a broken nose during Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Sheffield United at Anfield. The angular striker was caught by Blades forward Rob Hulse's boot during a skirmish in the penalty area midway through the first half. The incident occurred after referee Steve Bennett had awarded a penalty for Rob Kozluk's foul on Steven Gerrard. Crouch was replaced by Dirk Kuyt and left the field on a stretcher, with blood streaming from the wound. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has now confirmed that the England international has broken his nose. "Crouch has a broken nose and needed stitches, but it's not serious," said Benitez. "He is okay and I was talking to him after the game." The Reds have not revealed whether the injury will force Crouch to miss any games, with arch-rivals Manchester United next up at Anfield in a week's time. Just seen the highlights looked quite nasty.

Simi Posted 24 February 2007 Posted 24 February 2007 Was he crawling along the floor so someone could reach his nose.
Mort Posted 24 February 2007 Posted 24 February 2007 Was he crawling along the floor so someone could reach his nose. No he had the miss-fortune to come up against a side managed by a total thug who encourages all his players to "play" without any regard for anyone else on the pitch and then pretends to be "jack the lad" whose inocently sticking it to authority... nasty, nasty bit of work Warnock

I know Im in the minority but he usually talks sense and doesnt mess around with all this crap about being PC or worried about getting a fine. His views on Steve Gerrard and his diving for penos against Sheff Utd are acurate as if he was a foreign player the papers and media would have been making a big deal out of it, just like they have done in the past with Robben and Ronaldo. Gerrard gets away with all sorts of dives in the peno area.

Not defending Gerrard... always struck me as a gifted player... very gifted if I'm honest... but one whose also quite prepared to play dirty if he thinks he can gain from it and all the while he's still seen as "a good lad"... not unlike Shearer if I'm honest We'll have to disagree on Warnock... I really dont like the man and frankly think he's a bit of a menace, I'm not doubting that he can do the job (looks at what he's done for the Blades), but i just dont admire that kind of agression and vitriol... Steve Coppel on the other hand...

Used to hate him after his matchday comments the season we went up, same as everyone but having almost daily exposure to him on the local news up here, he really does say some things that make sense but most managers are afraid to say.

I agree, before this season I thought he was a tw*t but ever since that Gerrard dive on the first game of the season I have agreed with most of what he has said.

I think its good to see a manager coming out and slating the ref if he has had a bad game and if he has a valid point.
Daggers Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 His views on Steve Gerrard and his diving for penos against Sheff Utd are acurate Aside from the blatant fact that it was a penalty...and an example of how stupid some footballers are. He was held back right in front of the ref. He played the game...nuff said.
